WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The William & Mary women's soccer team played its lone exhibition, falling to Wake Forest 5-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Wake Forest netted a pair of goals three minutes apart in the first half. Claudia Day opened the scoring with her 25th minute tally. She converted a header on a long cross from Vicky Krug. Krug started the Demon Deacons' second goal of the afternoon just three minutes later. This time she found Hanna Betfort, who scored just inside the far post from the top of the penalty area.
The Demon Deacons added their third goal of the opening stanza in the 39th minute. After the Tribe committed a foul in the box, Maddie Huster stepped to the penalty spot and converted a goal, making it 3-0.
W&M recorded its lone goal of the afternoon on its first shot in the 52nd minute. Senior

Sami Grasso just 12 yards out. Grasso redirected it into the back of the net to cut the deficit to 3-1.
WF added two goals in the games final 22 minutes. Lily Schneider connected on a one-timer from 15-yards out in the 78th minute, before Bri Carney found the head of Abby McNamara, who flicked it in to make it 5-1.

Had the match counted the seven saves recorded by Johnson would have been a career-high … Grasso's maker would have been 11th goal of her career … The assist on the tally would have been Moore's 13th of her career … Moore enters the regular season eight assists shy of entering the top 10 all-time in school history.
