WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's golf team heads to the Oyster Shuck Match Play in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. It will work as a true match play tournament with every team playing 36 holes on Monday, April 3, before 18 holes on Tuesday, April 4.
Scouting the Field
Citadel hosts the eight-team event at Patriots Point Links in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The course is a par-72 and 5,974-yards long. The other six teams participating are Presbyterian, Radford, UNC Asheville, North Carolina A&T, Siena, and Marshall.
Scouting the Tribe
Coming off of its best finish of the season, W&M returns to action just six days after finishing second in the Kingsmill Intercollegiate. Sophomore
Elizabeth Choi led the Tribe at the event tying for medalist honors and shooting the fourth-best three round score at 217 (+1).
The Tribe will keep the same lineup for the match play. Junior
Katie Edelblut still holds the best average on the team averaging a 75.3 in her 18 rounds this season. Senior
Mia Zanghetti is just off of the pace averaging a 77.4. Along with Choi, freshman
Allison Olberding and sophomore
Riley Corona round out the Tribe lineup this week.
Pairings for the event will be based on Golfstat rankings heading into the tournament. The Tribe draws the host Citadel in the first round of the event. Winners will play winners and losers will play losers following the first round.
What's Ahead
Following a 10-day layoff, the women's golf team will compete in the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association Championship. The tournament runs from April 14-16 at Ford's Colony in Williamsburg, Va.
