WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's tennis team routed Big 12 foe West Virginia, 7-0, at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center on Saturday. After using a pair of new combinations at the top two positions to claim the doubles point, W&M (3-2) won all six singles matches, including five in straight sets. The Mountaineers (2-4) were coming off a 4-3 victory over VCU on Friday.
The Green and Gold switched up the doubles lineup with two teams playing matches together for the first time this season and winning at No. 1 and No. 2. At the top spot, junior

Lauren Goodman upended West Virginia's Kaja Mrgole and Christina Jordan, 6-4, to give W&M the early lead. Senior

Ekaterina Stepanova quickly followed with the clinching match at the second spot, downing Habiba Shaker and Lyn Yuen Choo, 6-4.
In singles, Faure and Thaler pushed the advantage to 3-0, dropping just two games apiece in wins at No. 3 and No. 4. Faure topped Paul Goetz by matching 6-1 sets at the third spot to improve to 13-6 overall and 3-2 in duals. Thaler won for the third time in her last four dual-matches, bouncing Christina Jordan, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 4 for her seventh win overall.
Freshman
Natalia Perry won her third straight and in the process clinched the Tribe victory with her triumph at No. 6. The Green and Gold rookie dropped only three games in downing Yvon Martinez, 6-3, 6-0, to improved to 12-6 overall and 2-0 in dual-match play.
Goodman, the reining CAA Player of the Week, remained undefeated in dual-match play, moving up a spot to No. 2 and claiming the win. She upended Kaja Mrgole for her fourth-straight win to improve to 7-5 on the year. Freshman
Rosie Cheng picked up her sixth win of the season, defeating Lyn Yuen Choo, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 5.
Stepanova rounded out the Tribe singles sweep with a come-from-behind three-set win at No. 1. After dropping the first set to WVU's Habiba Shaker, 6-4, the Tribe junior rallied with a 6-3 second-set triumph. In the decisive third-set super tiebreaker, Stepanova won the final two points on the way to a 10-8 victory. She upped her season mark to 6-4, while improving to 3-1 in dual-match play, including 2-0 at No. 1.
The Tribe hosts its second-straight Big 12 foe on Sunday when the Kansas Jayhawks enter the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. The match carries an 11 a.m. start time, and there will be free pizza while supplies last prior to singles competition. Kansas, which finished last season ranked No. 33 nationally, is 3-1 on the year following a 4-3 win over N.C. State on Friday.
