The Tribe recorded a season-high 92 digs and totaled 12 blocks in limiting the Phoenix to a .192 attack percentage. Senior Sydney Biniak paced the team with 20 kills and was backed up by strong play from the freshmen class. In addition, sophomore Autumn Brenner stands seventh in the conference in assists (5.62 per set).

Scouting the Dukes
JMU (15-4, 6-4 CAA) seeks to bounce back from a four-set loss at league-leading College of Charleston on Monday. The Dukes started the season with 12 consecutive wins, including three straight in CAA play, but are 1-2 in their last three matches. JMU is led by a duo of M'Kaela White and Bryn Recker. White tops the conference in blocks (1.51 per sets) and owns the third-best hitting percentage (.395). Recker boasts a versatile skill set as she averages a team-high 3.56 kills per set and 2.15 digs per set.

Series History
W&M and JMU will face off for the 91st time in series history on Friday night. The Dukes led the extensive all-time series with a 46-44 edge. During the first meeting of 2017, JMU outlasted the Tribe in four sets to maintain its once perfect record.

Significant Freshmen Contributions
The Tribe freshmen were a key factor in pulling out a hard-fought triumph over the Phoenix. Julia Brown matched her season-high 13 kills to post her third double-digit effort of the season. Kate Dedrick also tallied 10-plus kills with 12 and hit .387 after finishing error-free through 31 attempts. Denisha Shaw recorded a big performance at the net as she tied her season-high seven blocks, which led all players. In the backrow, Katie Turner tallied a season-best 27 digs to go along with eight assists, while Lauren Moussaid factored in on 16 more digs.

Biniak Attack
Biniak improved to ninth all-time in program history in career kills (1,037). She needs six more kills to take over the eighth spot in the W&M record books. The four-year captain is also within reach of finishing the season with 400 kills, requiring 45 more to hit the mark. Erin Skipper '10 is the only player to finish a season with 400-plus kills in the 25-point scoring system. Additionally, Biniak's 386.5 points this year ranks third in W&M history.

Double-Double
Junior Heather Pippus registered her second double-double in her last three contest versus the Phoenix. The Lake Oswego, Ore., native crushed 13 kills and chipped in 12 digs to factor into the five-set victory. She also blocks five attacks and accumulated a season-high 17 points. The double-double marks her third of the season.
