WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William & Mary baseball team concludes its trip to California and nine-game road trip with four games in three days in Northridge California. The Tribe opens the action with a game against host Cal State Northridge on Thursday, March 10 at 5 p.m. EST. W&M with then play UConn on Friday, March 11 at 12 p.m., before closing the weekend with a doubleheader on March 12 against UConn (1 p.m.) and Cal State Northridge (5 p.m.).

ON TAP• The William & Mary baseball team concludes its tour of California as it plays four games in Northridge, California over the course of three days. The action gets underway on Thursday, March 10 when the Tribe plays the host Cal State Northridge at 5 p.m. EST. W&M will then play a pair of games against UConn on Friday, March 11 and Saturday March 12, before closing the trip on Saturday, March 12.
• The Green and Gold are currently 1-4 on its current nine-game road trip. W&M lost the rubber game of the series at San Diego on Tuesday night in its last outing.

SERIES HISTORY• William & Mary and Cal State Northridge meet for the first time in program history on Thursday afternoon.
• The Tribe are currently 0-2 when they play a team for the first time this season.
• W&M will meet UConn for the second and third time in program history this weekend as well. The Huskies lead the all-time series 1-0.
• Last season, UConn picked up a 12-1 victory at Plumeri Park in Williamsburg. The Huskies limited the Tribe to just three hits, while senior
Josh Smith drove in the only run of the game for W&M.

SCOUTING THE MATADORS• Cal State Northridge enters the weekend with a 10-3 record overall. They are riding a five-game winning streak, and just knocked off national ranked UCLA.
• Offensively, the team is hitting .273. Fred Smith leads the Matadors with a .377 (23-for-61) batting average with two doubles and eight RBI. Branden Berry leads CSUN with 15 RBI, while Albee Weiss has 10 runs driven in. Berry and Weiss are also the team leaders with four long balls.
• The pitching staff leads the Matadors and the staff has combined for a 3.18 ERA. On the mound, Angel Rodriguez leads the team with a 1.80 ERA and has already made five appearances. Six pitchers have a 3.00 or better ERA for the Matadors. Kenny Rosenberg leads the team with 29 strikeouts, while Conner O'Neill leads the team with three saves.
• Greg Moore is in his third season at the helm in Northridge. He has posted a 61-65 record in his three years as head coach.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES• Connecticut opens a seven-game California road trip this weekend, playing a pair of games against the Tribe and the Matadors. The Huskies are 6-4 entering the weekend.
• UConn has combined for a .306 batting average through its first 10 games. Bobby Melly leads the team with a .395 batting average, adding four doubles, two homers and 15 RBI. Tyler Gnesda leads the team with 17 RBI, while Joe DeRoche-Duffin is second with 12 RBI. DeRoche-Duffin leads the team with three homers.
• On the mound, the Huskies pitching staff has combined for a 3.84 ERA. Ronnie Rossomando leads the team with a 1.93 ERA. Anthony Kay has pitched the most innings (170) and has the most strikeouts (23). Randy Polnia leads the Huskies with two saves.
• Jim Penders is in his 13th season at the helm of the Huskies. Penders owns a 427-301-4 in his time in Storrs, Conn.

ON DECK• W&M returns home to face in-state rival Norfolk State at Plumeri Park on Tuesday, March 15. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
• The Tribe opens Colonial Athletic Association play next weekend with a three-game trip to Elon. The series will be held March 18-20.

CALIFORNIA DREAMIN'• William & Mary heads to the Left Coast for eight games in eight days for its Spring Break trip. The Tribe will play games against Oregon State, San Diego, UConn, and Cal State Northridge. Dating back to 1984, it will be the first time that the Tribe has traveled to California.
• It will be the farthest trip West since the Tribe opened up the 2011 season at Oklahoma. So far on the Cali trip, W&M is 1-3.

START ME UP• The Tribe offense has wasted little time getting runs on the board. W&M scratched across, at least, one first inning run in five games this season.
• W&M is 4-1 this season when they score a run in the first inning. Their first loss when scoring in the first inning came on Tuesday night in game two at San Diego.

MAKES YOU WANNA STAY• W&M played its first extra inning game of the season on Tuesday against San Diego. The Tribe scored two runs in the 10th inning, improving to 1-0 this season in extras.
• Last season, the Green and Gold played four extra inning games, 2-2.

LETS PLAY TWO!• W&M played its first doubleheader of the 2016 season on Tuesday as well. The Tribe split the two games against San Diego. W&M has at least two more doubleheaders on the schedule.
• On Saturday the Tribe will play both UConn and Cal State Northridge, and then on May 13 the Tribe will play a double dip at West Virginia.

HALL PASS• Sophomore
Ryan Hall has had a strong start to the season from his leadoff spot. He leads the team with a .364 batting average (16-of-44) with three doubles, a triple, two homers, and seven RBI.
• He has reached base safely in all but one game this season, and is currently riding a five-game hitting streak.
BRINGING OUT THE BROOMS• William & Mary recorded its first weekend series sweep with three consecutive wins over Holy Cross last weekend. It was the first series sweep since a three-game sweep of James Madison on April 17-19.
 • W&M has recorded at-least one three-game series in the last seven seasons.

LARGE AND IN CHARGE• After a strong weekend against Holy Cross, sophomore
Cullen Large followed it up with a stronger weekend in the first leg of the California trip. He hit .333 for with a team-high four RBI over the weekend.
• For the season, the Chesterfield, Va. native is hitting .298 with three doubles, a homer, and a team-high nine RBI.

GOING STREAKING• Senior
Josh Smith has hit safely in all 12 Tribe games, building a 14-game hitting streak dating back to the 2015 season, which leads the team.
• Junior
Ryder Miconi has also put together a nice hitting streak. He has hit safely in his last seven games.

AN ACE IN AKER• Senior
Mitchell Aker turned in one of his best starts of his career in his first start of the 2016 season. Aker tossed 6.1 innings allowing only an unearned run. He added two strikeouts on the day.

POWERED BY POWERS• Not to be outdone, junior
Daniel Powers had the best start of his Tribe career in his first start of the year. He pitched seven scoreless innings, scattering just seven hits, and punching out three.
• The bullpen pitched the final two scoreless innings as the Vienna, Va. native was apart of the first shutout since the final day of the 2014 regular season.

BE A DUDE• For the fourth consecutive season, the William & Mary coaching staff will be giving out the "Be A Dude" Award for the Tribe player with the most two-out RBI over the course of the season.
• So far this season the Tribe has 30 two-out RBI. Sophomore
Cullen Large paces the Tribe with nine, two-out RBI, which are all of the RBIs he has this season. Junior
Charles Ameer is second on the team with four two-out RBI.
