Cullen Large Tabbed CAA Player and Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – William and Mary baseball freshman Cullen Large swept the Colonial Athletic Association Player and Rookie of the Week Awards for the week of March 16, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Large continued his strong start to the season with the best week of his collegiate career this past week. He batted .632 (12-for-19) with 12 hits, two doubles, one triple, seven runs, and seven RBI, while collecting 16 total bases. Against ACC foe Virginia Tech, Large went 4-for-5 with a run scored out of the leadoff spot. In his lowest hit total of the week, Large went 1-for-4 with an RBI in the CAA opener at Hofstra. The rest of the weekend he was sensational. In game two of the doubleheader, he again went 4-for-5 with three RBI, and three runs scored, adding a triple in the victory. In the final game of the series, he went 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored, he also reached base on a pair of walks during the game. For the week, he slugged an .842 slugging percentage and had a .682 on-base percentage.

The Richmond, Virginia native is currently on a 12-game hitting streak, and has recorded nine multi-hit games this season. Large leads the team with a .406 batting average, he has three doubles, one triple, two homers, and 16 RBI.

Large and the rest of the Tribe return to action on Wednesday, March 18 when they host UConn at Plumeri Park. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
