The William & Mary women's swimming team split its results Saturday at a triangular meet in Durham, beating Old Dominion 141-130 and falling to No. 17 Duke, 181-87. The Tribe moves its record to 4-3 on the season, with four more dual-meets to come next semester.
The Tribe's top points-getter was freshman
Morgan Smith (Verona, N.J.), who won the 1000 free against Old Dominion in 10:25.87, and came back later to win the 400 IM against Duke in 4:35.99. The 400 free relay also defeated Duke in 3:33.91, thanks to the efforts of
Jess Crowley (Acton, Mass.),
Annie Miller (Houston, Texas),
Noelle Klockner (Marlboro, N.J.), and
Jessie Ustjanauskas (West Hartford, Conn.).
W&M also had a relay win and six more individual wins to pull out the victory against Old Dominion. Ustjanauskas and Miller teamed with
Katie Sell (Fredericksburg, Va.) and
Annie Valls (Miami, Fla.) to win the 200 medley relay in 1:44.89, before Ustjanauskas went on to win the 100 free individually in 52.80 seconds. Miller also picked up her own win, timing 24.11 seconds in the 50 free.
Junior
Selina Fuller (Henrico, Va.) was the winner in the 200 free, stopping the clock in 1:54.87, and classmate
Georgie Crompton (Brooklandville, Md.) won the 100 fly in 56.58 seconds. Sophomore
Rachel Anderson (Clifton, Va.) touched the wall in 2:06.91 to win the 200 fly, and junior
Sophie Rittenhouse (London, England) finished the winners in the 200 back with a time of 2:03.06.
William & Mary is now done with the dual-meet portion of the fall schedule, and will return to action in two weeks at the Bucknell Invitational on Nov. 20-22.
