W&M Women's Swimming Drives For Five at CAA Pod Meet

The William & Mary women's swimming team dives back into the pool this weekend, traveling to Newark, Del. for the annual Colonial Athletic Association Pod Meet.  Once again, the Tribe has drawn into the pod with James Madison, UNCW and Delaware, and will swim against those three teams in 17 events over the course of Saturday and Sunday.  Two diving events will also be contested, meaning W&M will potentially be down as many as 32 points in all three meets before the swimming begins.

Scouting the Tribe
W&M is 2-0 on the year and 1-0 in the CAA, having downed Georgetown and Towson already this season.  The Tribe's top scorer so far is senior Jessie Ustjanauskas (West Hartford, Conn.) with three wins, and junior Sophie Rittenhouse (London, England) also has three tallies to her credit.  Juniors Jamie Miller (Houston, Texas) and Selina Fuller (Henrico, Va.) each have two wins.

Scouting the Opponents
Delaware enters the weekend at 3-0 overall, with wins over Georgetown, George Mason, and St. Francis, and boasts the CAA Swimmer and Diver of the Week in Morgan Whyte and Kristina Congdon, respectively.  James Madison is also undefeated at 2-0, downing La Salle and Liberty, and UNCW is 0-2 after a tough opening schedule against Tennessee and East Carolina.

News and Notes
- W&M is 2-0 in a season for the first time since the 1988-89 season.  That year, grabbed wins off VCU and East Carolina in the first two meets, ultimately winning the first eight meets of the year before finishing 9-2.

- The win over Towson was the first for the Tribe women since 2005-06.

- Freshman Morgan Smith (Verona, N.J.) already ranks ninth in school history in the 1000 free, after timing 10:18.15 against Towson.

- Season Totals for the Year: 2 Personal-Bests, 1 Dual-Meet Records, 1 Pool Records
