William & Mary freshman Heather Pippus (Lake Oswego, Ore.) was named the Colonial Athletic Association's Rookie of the Week for volleyball on Tuesday, after a strong week that included the best rookie performance in five years.  This is the first award of Pippus' career, and the first of the season for the Tribe.

Last week, Pippus led the Tribe with 3.71 kills per set, and also with five service aces (0.71 per set).  Over the course of the team's two matches, she also had 2.29 digs per set, and hit .328.  Her week started with seven kills, seven digs, and a career-high three aces in the Tribe's 3-0 win over Delaware on Monday, and then she really blew up Saturday night against Elon.  Pippus punished the Phoenix with 19 kills on a .350 attack, and also had nine digs and two more aces.  Her 19 kills were the most for a Tribe freshman in a single match since 2011.

Pippus and her teammates are back out on the road this week with two matches, at James Madison on Thursday night at 7 p.m. and at Towson on Saturday for a 5 p.m. match.
