The William and Mary volleyball team picked up a big win on Friday night, going on the road to defeat Northeastern 3-1 in Boston. The Tribe improved to 7-23 overall and 3-12 in the CAA with the win, and locked up seventh in the league standings just one spot out of the tournament, while the Huskies well to 10-19 overall and 2-13 in the conference.

Dessi Koleva (Torrance, Calif.), who picked up another double-double with 12 kills and 17 digs, as well as adding in a pair of aces and a block. Koleva surpassed 900 career digs on the night, and now has 906 to her credit. Classmate
Mallory Brickerd (Ashburn, Va.) powered through 13 kills of her own, and also had a pair of aces to go with five digs.
Also of note, freshman
Sydney Biniak (Elkridge, Md.) had eight kills and four blocks, and senior
Liz Brown (Ellicott City, Md.) matched her with eight more kills. Redshirt-sophomore
Jenna Strange (Leesburg, Va.) led all players with three service aces, and junior
Carolyn Albright (Raleigh, N.C.) had a match-high five blocks.
Sophomore
Gabrielle Pe (Virginia Beach, Va.) also had a double-double, dishing out 15 assists and 15 digs, and classmate
Stephanie Paul (North Bethesda, Md.) matched her with 15 assists and eight digs.
Freshman
Sara Zumbach (Franklin, Tenn.) rounded out the notables with a team-best 19 digs, raising her season total to 299.
After Northeastern took the first set 25-18, the Tribe responded with three-straight 25-21 wins to claim the match. The second set was tied at 14-14, but W&M got a kill from Brown and an ace by Brickerd to embark on a 5-1 run, and never let the Huskies get closer than three points the rest of the way.
The third set saw Northeastern go ahead late, 17-14, but W&M responded quickly with a 7-0 run to go ahead 21-17. The Huskies were powerless to stop the streak, even with two timeouts, and the Tribe were able to match them point for point the rest of way to another 25-21 win. The fourth and final set had W&M's first big run come early, an 8-2 streak, that was quickly followed by another 7-3 streak to go ahead 17-10. Northeastern climbed back into contention and cut the Tribe's lead to 22-19, but the Huskies erred on a serve and Albright and Biniakcame up wiht a big block to gain match-point, 24-19. The home team had a final last-ditch gasp with two kills, but Brickerd put a stop to that with her 13th and final kill of the night.
William and Mary closes out the regular season on Sunday afternoon, playing at Hofstra at 1 p.m.
