The William and Mary volleyball team wrapped up the regular season Sunday with a trip to Boston, fighting gamely for three sets before falling at Northeastern. The Tribe heads into the post-season at 11-20 overall and 6-8 in the Colonial Athletic Association, good for a tie for fifth place overall. The Huskies improved to 18-10 on the year and 10-4 in league play, and finished second in the conference.

The Tribe was led on the afternoon by the sophomore tandem of Mallory Brickerd (Ashburn, Va.) and Dessi Koleva (Torrance, Calif.), who tied for the match-high with 12 kills apiece. Brickerd's dozen came on a .250 attack, and she also had a service ace and a pair of digs. Koleva's 12 kills were matched with 12 digs for her 14th double-double of the season, and the sophomore also had a hand in two blocks. A third sophomore also continued her season of good play, as Carolyn Albright (Raleigh, N.C.) had a match-high three blocks to run her year-long total to 129 (25 solo, 104 assists).
Also of note, senior Celine Alasomuka (Centreville, Va.) match Koleva with a match-high 12 digs, and redshirt-junior Monika Stanciauskas (Wheaton, Ill.) had three kills and two blocks. Freshman Gabrielle Pe (Virginia Beach, Va.) had the majority of time at setter, dishing out 21 assists with six digs and a kill.
After the Huskies took the first set handily, the Tribe came out much stronger in the second and third frames, carrying a lead late in both before Northeastern was able to take advantage of home court and pull ahead for the win. With the result of this match, and others around the league, W&M will be seeded No. 6 in next weekend's conference tournament.
William and Mary's quarterfinal-round match will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, with the Tribe taking on No. 3 UNCW. The winner of the that match will advance to semifinals on Saturday at 4 p.m., against Northeastern. College of Charleston is the host of the 2013 CAA Championships, which will be played at the North Charleston Arena in Charleston, S.C.
