Tribe?s Logan Billbrough Named First-Team All-East Region

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Former William and Mary Tribe baseball pitcher Logan Billbrough continued to rake in the accolades this past week, as he was named to the 2011 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-East Region First Team.  With the honor, Billbrough becomes just the fourth different Tribe pitcher to earn the distinction, joining Matt Davenport (2010), Bill Bray (2004), and John Volpi (1983 and 1984).

After posting one of the greatest pitching seasons in school history this spring, Billbrough was honored as the 2011 Colonial Athletic Association Co-Pitcher of the Year. En route to earning the honor, he led the league with a 2.58 ERA, 97.2 innings pitched and 105 strikeouts. The strikeout total ranks fourth on the Tribe's single-season list.

Highlighting Billbrough's list of impressive performances in 2011 were his efforts against Delaware (March 26) and Northeastern (April 30). The Miami, Fla., native tossed a complete-game, one-hit shutout in W&M's 6-0 win versus the Blue Hens, while he set a school record with 16 strikeouts in his complete-game shutout in the 8-0 victory at NU.

As a senior, Billbrough was named CAA Pitcher of the Week four times and was also selected as the National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball following his performance against Northeastern.

After posting a 7-2 record in 2011, Billbrough graduated from the College ranked seventh on the school's career wins list (17) and fifth in career strikeouts (228).

On June 21, Billbrough became the 10th player under the guidance of Tribe head coach Frank Leoni to ink a professional contract, signing with the St. Louis Cardinals.  After being assigned to the Johnson City Cardinals of the Appalachian League, Billbrough notched his first professional win on June 26.  Billbrough came out of the bullpen to throw 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out one.
