COLLEGE PARK, MD - The William and Mary men's track and field continued its outdoor campaign Saturday at the Maryland Invitational, earning a pair of IC4A qualifications in the meet. The Tribe finished seventh in the 15-team standings, despite withholding the majority of its running squad in preparation for next weekend's Colonial Relays.

Hammer Throw
All three of the Tribe's competitors in the hammer throw scored for the Tribe, led by junior
Zach Jordan's (Dublin, Ohio) winning throw of 176-00 (53.65 meters). The performance reaffirmed his qualification to the IC4A Championships that he earned last week with his career-best throw of 181-7 at the Tribe Invitational. Senior
Alex Ball (Winchester, Va.) improved his career-best for the second weekend in a row, throwing 157-4 (47.95m) for third place and six team points, while classmate
Adam Gawne (Lyndonville, N.Y.) scored one point in eighth place after throwing for 140-1 (42.69m).
Javelin Throw
Tribe sophomore
Brandon Heroux (Westfield, N.J.) opened his year with an IC4A-qualifying javelin throw, reaching a distance of 213 feet (64.93m) to place second overall and first among collegians. It was the sixth-best throw in school history, and ranks him 11th in the NCAA East Region.
Men's Discus
Senior
Dan Klatzkin (Gaithersburg, Md.) had a solid tune-up effort in the discus, taking fourth with a throw of 142-3 (43.37m) while continuing to round into shape for next weekend's Colonial Relays.
Pole Vault
Also finishing fourth was junior
Keith Constance (Independence, Mo.), who cleared the bar at 13-6.25 (4.12m) on his second attempt in the pole vault. Senior
Doug Zimmer (McLean, Va.) also got over the bar at 13-6.25, but fell to sixth place when he needed three attempts to clear the height.
1,500m Run
Sophomore
Peter Dorrell (Blacksburg, Va.) ran his first competitive race since last year's IC4A Outdoor Championships, and finished seventh in the 1,500m with a time of 4:00.24 to earn three team points.
400m Hurdles
Junior
Chris McIntosh (Owings, Md.) ran 55.93 in the 400m hurdles to finish eighth overall, but fifth among collegiate athletes in his season debut in the race and earned four points for the team effort.
William and Mary returns to Williamsburg and prepares to host a total of 77 teams (38 men's squads and 39 women's squads) in the 45th Annual Colonial Relays. Over 2000 athletes will try for qualifying times and team points over two days of competition on Friday and Saturday, April 2-3, in Williamsburg.
