Ben Guez was named the West Michigan Whitecaps Player of the Week by
The Grand Rapids Press on Monday.
Then on Tuesday, Guez was honored again by being named the Midwest League Player of the Week.
After struggling in the early part of the season, Guez has caught on fire since the Midwest League All-Star game. In the three weeks since the break, Guez has raised his average more than 50 points. In a three-game series last week against Peoria, Guez went 7-for-12 (.583) with two home runs, five RBIs and four runs scored.
In his past 10 games, Guez has hit .381, adding to his season stats of 19 doubles, three triples, seven homeruns and 42 RBIs. Guex has also been playing fantastic defense for the Whitecaps in centerfield, as he is yet to commit an error this season.
In three seasons at the College, Guez registered a .319 career batting average with 15 home runs, 85 RBIs, 125 runs scored, 36 doubles and 30 stolen bases. Guez was drafted in the 19th round (pick 583) by the Detroit Tigers in the 2008 MLB Draft.
