TUSCALOOSA, AL - William and Mary sophomore Matt Rubenstein (East Hampton, NY) advanced to the semifinals of his singles flight and joined with freshman Alex Zuck (Toms River, NJ) to reach the semifinals of their doubles flight, as the Tribe men's tennis team continued play at the University of Alabama's Crimson Tide Fall Tournament.

After receiving a first round bye, top seeded Rubenstein shut out Martin Crocket (Birmingham Southern), 6-0, 6-0, before defeating Ryan Valentine (UAB), 6-1, 6-4, to reach the semifinals of Flight C. In doubles, Rubenstein and Zuck won three matches in the second flight. After defeating Colorado's Peter Bjork/Charlie Yemm, 8-6, the pair upset the flight's No. 1 seed, Anton Mavrin/Kristijan Mitrovski (UAB), 8-6, in the round of 16. The duo then defeated Bernado Bachino/Joe Unkenholz (Jacksonville State), 8-6 in the quarterfinal round.

In the top singles flight consolation round, sophomore Alex Cojanu (Hallandale, FL) upset No. 115 Marc Spicjaric (Illinois), 7-6 (6), 6-4. Junior Colin O'Brien (Dublin, Ireland), also won a top-flight consolation match, defeating Mavrin 7-5, 6-4.

Senior Stephen Ward (Douglaston, NY) won three consolation matches in the second singles flight, including wins over opponents from Illinois, Southern Mississippi and UAB. In the "One on One Doubles" Flight B exhibition matches, Zuck reached the semifinal round with an 8-4 win over Eric Lim (Mississippi State), 8-4, and a walkover advance past James Bryce (Samford).

The Tribe will conclude its play in the Crimson Tide Tournament tomorrow.
