WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary head men's tennis coach
Jeff Kader '05 announced the addition of
Tyler Macy to the Tribe program as it's assistant coach.
"I'm incredibly excited to welcome Tyler to the program," Kader said. "His success as a player and a coach, as well as the connections he has made throughout the years in recruiting, will be bring great value to the program. He helped Gardner-Webb to one of their most successful seasons last year, ending in a conference championship and automatic berth into the NCAA tournament. I'm looking forward to working with him and I know he is excited to start working with the team."
Macy joins the Tribe after spending last season as an assistant coach at his alma mater Gardner Webb. He helped lead the Runnin' Bulldogs to a 20-5 record, the program's first Big South Tournament Championship, and a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The program finished the year ranked No. 8 in the Carolinas Region and No. 75 nationally after earning its first national ranking earlier in the season. Gardner Webb produced both the Big South Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year in 2025.
Macy also spent time as a collegiate assistant at Virginia Wesleyan in Virginia Beach with both the men's and women's programs during the spring of 2020.
Along with his time as a collegiate assistant, Macy has nearly five years of experience as a director and tennis professional. Most recently, he spent two years as the Director of Court Sports at the Statesville Country Club and the Rock Barn Country Club and Spa in North Carolina from 2022-24.
He spent nearly two years at the Atlantic Beach Country Club in Atlantic Beach, Fla. Macy began his tenure at Atlantic Beach as a tennis professional, before being elevated to the head professional in 2022. Macy started his career as the head tennis professional at Bloomington Tennis Center in Illinois in 2019.
Macy earned his degree from Gardner Webb in 2018 in business administration. In high school, he his team to a North Carolina State Team Championship. Macy also won an individual state championship in 2012 and a doubles state title in 2013.
