TERRE HAUTE, IN - The William and Mary men's cross country team finished 14th today in the Division I Cross Country NCAA Championships, held in Terre Haute, Indiana on Indiana State's 10,000m course. The race featured 31 teams and 38 individual qualifiers from the top Division I cross country programs in the nation. The Tribe tallied 407 points in its 14th-place finish, the eighth-best finish in the school's history.

Ed Moran (Dayton, NJ) earned All-America status by finishing in 30th place in a time of 30 minutes and 27 seconds. Moran is one of just three athletes in W&M history to have earned All-America honors in cross country more than once.

John O'Connor (Yorktown Heights, NY) placed 82nd in the 251-man race, crossing the finish line after 30 minutes and 59 seconds. Freshman
Matt Keally (Virginia Beach, VA) ran well, finishing in 113th place with a time of 31 minutes and 13 seconds. Senior
Jacob Frey (Oakton, VA) concluded his cross country career with a 124th-place finish. Sophomore
Charlie Hurt (Charlottesville, VA) finished 170th, while junior
Adam Otstot (Richmond, VA) placed 175th. Senior
West Garrett (Mathias, WV) placed 181st after running the race in 31 minutes and 58 seconds.
The Tribe received an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships for the sixth-consecutive year after finishing second in the NCAA Southeast Region Championships, held on November 16 in Greenville, North Carolina. Five runners earned All-Southeast Region honors. Moran finished second by only four tenths of a second, while O'Connor, Frey, Keally and Hurt finished 15th, 20th, 24th and 25th, respectively. The Southeast Regional meet came just two weeks after the Tribe won its third-straight Colonial Athletic Association title. Moran was named CAA Athlete of the Meet after finishing the race first.
"We are thrilled with how we raced today," commented head coach Andrew Gerard. "Our guys raced well and came on strong in the end and raced really well together."
Stanford took the national title, scoring 47 points. Wisconsin, with 107 points, finished second, while Eastern Michigan finished third with 165 points.
Colorado's Jorge Torres and Arkansas' Alistair Cragg had dominating leads, individually finishing first and second, respectively, 30 seconds ahead of Stanford's Grant Robison, who finished third.
Today's race concludes the men's cross country season. The indoor track and field season will begin on December 6, while the Tribe will compete in Christopher Newport University's Lid Lifter.
