Big Seventh Inning Lifts Baseball Over Longwood, 7-3

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — A five-run explosion in the seventh inning keyed William & Mary's 7-3 win over Longwood on Tuesday evening at Plumeri Park.

The Tribe (15-20) churned out 12 hits while holding Longwood (21-16) to just three as it split the season series with the Lancers.

W&M struck first in the opening frame when Charlie Iriotakis hit a single to drive in Jamie Laskofski, who reached on a fielding error to leadoff the inning.

Owen Pierce delivered two shutout innings in his first start of the season, striking out three and retiring all six batters he faced.

The Tribe doubled its lead in the third on an RBI single by Chase Ecker. The Lancers tied the game up in the top of the fourth, scoring on a wild pitch and RBI groundout to make it 2-2.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Green & Gold started its rally with a two-run triple off the bat of Laskofski. Iriotakis then drove in Laskofski with a single to make it 5-2.

Jack Weight quieted down the Lancers' offense, entering in the fifth and holding Longwood to one run over 3 ⅓ innings of work. Daniel Lingle came on in the eighth and recorded two outs before giving the ball to Stephen Christopher in the ninth, who set down Longwood in order to close the game.
