DOUBLE TROUBLE

CHOPPIN' EM DOWN
LHP Tom Bourque set a career-high in strikeouts (six) and innings pitched (4.0) in his start vs. Binghamton on Feb. 21. The redshirt junior shut out the Bearcats and allowed just one hit with no walks in the Tribe's 5-4 win.

STEADY EDDY
OF Chase Ecker recorded a hit in the first five games of his collegiate career. He's 6-for-6 stealing on the basepaths this season.

WELCOME INTRODUCTION
DH Liam O'Neil went yard in his first at-bat as a member of the Tribe, blasting a two-run homer in the second inning at Virginia Tech. He became the first Tribe player to hit a home run in his first AB with the team since Nic Britt did it on Feb. 28, 2021 at Charlotte.

PRESEASON NOTES

JAMIE 2.0
INF Jamie Laskofski returns after a dazzling freshman campaign that saw him earn CAA Second Team and All-Rookie honors. During the regular season, Laskofski led all CAA freshmen in average (.360), hits (77), runs (54), and stolen bases (12).

2025 IN REVIEW
W&M made numerous strides under first-year head coach Rob McCoy, posting a 14-13 CAA record in conference despite missing numerous key starters. The Tribe posted its highest team batting average (.311) since 2008 while leading the league in average and hits and ranking second in OBP. Four W&M players were named to the all-conference team, including OF Ben Parker, who was named CAA Co-Player of the Year and the 10th All-American in program history.

CARDIAC TRIBE
W&M had 16 come-from-behind wins in 2025 out of their 21 total victories. The Green & Gold won six games in which they trailed by at least four runs, in addition to three walk-off wins.

MAXIMIZING PRODUCTION
Under the new staff, W&M increased its team batting average by .041 points from 2024 to 2025, the ninth-largest rise in Division I. The Tribe produced four all-conference hitters, more than the previous two years combined, including All-American OF Ben Parker.

BACK IN THE FOLD
W&M will welcome back a pair of talented pitchers in RHP Zack Potts and RHP Owen Pierce, who missed significant time last season with injuries. Potts had a 3.84 ERA in 2024 and led the CAA with a 1.79 BB/9 innings. Pierce is a two-time NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watch List selection after recording five saves in 2024 with a 3.77 ERA.

DRAFT BUZZ
W&M had players named to Perfect Game's Top CAA Draft Prospects list. RHP Luke Calveric was named the league's No. 10 prospect for 2026 class, while INF Jamie Laskofski was tabbed the No. 2 prospect for the 2027 class.

DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAM
The Tribe has had a player selected in the MLB Draft each of the last three seasons. Its six total draft picks over that span equals the third-most in the CAA, and the five picks taken in the top-10 rounds is the most.
