Baseball Takes Down Lafayette 12-6 on Saturday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary baseball pounded out a dozen hits and played perfect defensively in a 12-6 win over Lafayette on Saturday evening at Plumeri Park.

The Tribe (4-4) started quickly with a four-run first inning. Louie Bartletti opened the rally with an RBI double, followed by an RBI single from Matthew Kosuda. Charlie Iriotakis then doubled in a pair for a 4-0 lead.

After Lafayette (0-6) got a run back in the second, the Tribe responded with a two-run homer off the bat of Jamie Laskofski, making it 6-1.

The Leopards cut into the deficit in the middle innings, scoring two in the fourth and one in the fifth to make it a 6-4 ballgame. Chase Ecker answered with a critical insurance run, driving in Iriotakis with an RBI single.

After a two-run homer in the sixth from Lafayette's Boden Fernsler made it 7-6, W&M responded right back with an RBI triple from Bartletti. Matthew Kosuda then drove in Bartletti to put the Green & Gold ahead 9-6.

W&M would extend its advantage with a three-spot in the eighth, including an RBI single by Trey Christman as the Tribe went ahead 12-6.
