RICHMOND, Va. — After a strong showing at the top of the lineup against Penn State, William & Mary sophomore Gur Trakhtenberg was named the CAA Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Trakhtenberg recorded victories at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles in the Tribe's tightly contested 4–3 setback to the Nittany Lions last weekend. In singles play, the Raanana, Israel native rallied past Michael Wright in three sets, 3–6, 6–4, 6–1. He then teamed with Oliver Hague at the top doubles position to defeat Wright and David Lindsay, 6–4.

"Gur had a great start to the season," said head coach Jeff Kader. "He and Oliver started out very strong in doubles and he carried that momentum into singles. He showed great fight after losing the first set, but played the big moments very well. I'm looking forward to what he can do for the team this year."

Now in his sophomore campaign, Trakhtenberg continues to build on a standout freshman season in which he earned All-CAA Second Team honors in singles, becoming the program's first freshman to receive All-CAA singles recognition since 2015. Last season, he led the Tribe with 17 singles victories and also posted a team-best 17–8 doubles record, including a 14–4 mark during the spring.
