RICHMOND, Va. — William & Mary women's soccer freshman forward Ava Magnuson was named the CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Magnuson becomes the first freshman to earn both CAA Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors in the same week since UNCW's Morgan Nanni on Sept. 3, 2018. The awards are the first CAA weekly honors of Magnuson's collegiate career.

The Sutton, Mass., native earned the honors after scoring both goals in William & Mary's 2-1 CAA victory over Campbell on Friday night at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.

Magnuson opened the scoring in the 24th minute before finding the back of the net again less than seven minutes later to give W&M a 2-0 advantage. The two-goal performance marked the first brace of her collegiate career.

The freshman finished the match with a game-high three shots on goal, scoring on two of her three attempts on frame.

Magnuson has been on a tear over the last four matches, scoring four goals during that stretch. She has found the back of the net three times over W&M's last two contests, helping the Tribe earn consecutive victories for the first time this season.

Through 11 matches, Magnuson is tied for the team lead with four goals and ranks second on the Tribe with nine points. She has put 11 of her 17 shots on goal and has scored a team-high two game-winning goals.

Her recent run began with the first goal of her collegiate career at College of Charleston on Sept. 19. After being held off the scoresheet against Towson, Magnuson scored in W&M's 4-0 victory over Drexel before recording her first career brace against Campbell.

Magnuson's performance helped William & Mary secure its first victory over Campbell since the Camels joined the CAA and its first in the series since 1998. The win improved the Tribe to 3-5-3 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play.

William & Mary hits the road for a pair of CAA matches in New York this week. The Tribe travels to Hofstra on Thursday, Oct. 8, for a 7 p.m. kickoff before facing Stony Brook on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 1 p.m. Both matches will be streamed on FloCollege.
