Men's Basketball Continues Road Swing at Monmouth

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's basketball continues its road swing, trekking north to take on Monmouth on Thursday night at OceanFirst Bank Center in West Long Branch, N.J. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on SNY. 

The game will also be streamed on FloCollege. W&M fans can listen into the radio broadcast on the Tribe Sports Network with Jay Colley on the call. The broadcast will be available on The Tide 92.3 FM in Williamsburg, the flagship station of the Tribe Sports Network.

W&M News and Notes
 
- W&M and Monmouth have met just one time each season since the Hawks joined the CAA in 2022. The Tribe makes just its second trip to West Long Branch, N.J. The previous two match-ups between the teams have been decided by five or fewer points.
 
- The Tribe recorded 14 steals and turned Charleston over 19 times on Monday night, converting those into 22 points. The 14 steals are the most team's most against a DI opponent since 2001 when it had 15 at Fordham. On the year, the Tribe leads the CAA in both turnovers forced (15.9) and steals (9.0), while ranking 18th and 46th in the country, respectively. The Tribe averages 19 points per game off turnovers.
 
- In each of the Tribe's last two games, junior Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi has scored a team and game-high 22 points against Stony Brook (12/31) and at Charleston (1/3). In CAA play, Vahlberg Fasasi ranks 10th in the league at 17 points per game, shooting 50% from the field, 41.2% from 3-point range and 80% at the free throw line. Overall, he leads the Tribe in scoring at 11.8 points per game, which ranks 23rd in the CAA.
 
- At Charleston, senior Chase Lowe recorded his seventh career double-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists. In CAA play, Lowe is averaging 7.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game, which ranks ninth and fourth in the league, respectively.
 
- After missing nearly three full games due to injury, senior Kyle Pulliam has returned to form recently. Over the last four games, he is averaging 15 points and 5.5 rebounds per game with shooting percentages of 58.6 FG% (17-of-29), 50.0 3FG% (5-of-10), and 87.5 FT% (21-of-24). He tallied his Tribe career-high of 22 points in the win over Radford on Dec. 18 to eclipse the 1,000th point mark for his career.
 
- The Tribe has jumped 112 spots from the preseason KenPom ratings, as of Jan. 6, to No. 119. The improvement is the sixth biggest in the country as W&M reached its highest rating since 2016. The Tribe is also currently 93rd in the NCAA NET Rankings, as of Jan. 6, which ranks second in the CAA. W&M reached as high as No. 50 this season, which is the program's best since the tool was introduced in 2018-19.
 
- W&M has shot a higher % than its opponents in 12 of its 15 games, including all 11 wins. The Tribe has connected at least a 50% clip six times. As of Jan. 6, the Green and Gold ranks 38th nationally in 2-point % (58.3), 54th in effective field goal % (55.9), and 58th in field goal % (48.4). All three %'s lead the CAA.
 
- The Tribe possesses a balanced attack offensively with seven players averaging at least eight points per game, including four in double figures. In total 12 of the Tribe's 13 players that have seen action in 2025-26 have scored in double figures at least once and eight different players have led the team.
 
- W&M is once again among the fastest-paced teams in the country. According to KenPom.com (as of Jan. 6), the Tribe leads the country in fastest average length of possession on offense (13.4 seconds) and ranks fourth in adjusted tempo (75.4). Last season, the Tribe ranked third in fastest average length of possession (14.9) and 18th in adjusted tempo  (71.5). In each of the last five seasons, Brian Earl-coached teams have ranked top 5 nationally in average possession length and top 25 in adjusted tempo.
 
- Bench scoring has been a staple for head coach Brian Earl's teams. This season, the Tribe is averaging 32.4 points per game from its reserves, which ranks 38th in the country, as of Jan. 6. W&M's leading scorer has come off the bench in six of its 11 wins this season. Last year, the Tribe ranked eighth nationally in bench scoring (31.9) after Earl's final Cornell team led the country in 2023-24 (36.0).
 
- The Tribe has also been one of the best teams in the country in terms of sharing the basketball under Earl. W&M is averaging 19.4 assists per game this season, which leads the CAA and ranks 11th in the country. The Tribe is sixth nationally in assist rate, assisting on 66.9% of its made field goals. A season ago, W&M was 10th nationally in assist rate (62%) and 25th nationally at 16.5 assists per game.
 
- Lowe reached a pair of career milestones with his 500th career rebound vs. ODU and his 250th assist at Duquesne. He ranks 17th in school history in assists (273) and is six away from 16th place. Lowe is one of just six players in school history with 500 rebounds and 250 assists, joining an elite list of John Lowenhaupt '78, David Schneider '10, Omar Prewitt '17, Terry Tarpey '16, and Nathan Knight '20.
 
- 2025 W&M alums Gabe Dorsey (Slovakia), Caleb Dorsey (Slovakia), and Matteus Case (Portugal) signed professional contracts in Europe. In total, 10 former Tribe standouts are playing professionally overseas, including Miguel Ayesa (Spain), David Cohn (Germany), Nathan Knight (South Korea), Anders Nelson (Romania), Terry Tarpey (France), Marcus Thornton (Romania), and Andy Van Vliet (Germany). Daniel Dixon '17, who won an NBA title as an assistant with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2025, was named the head coach of the Oklahoma City Blue, the Thunder's NBA G-League affiliate, in August. Alums Chris Darnell '09 (Sacramento Kings) and Sean Sheldon (Utah Jazz) are also currently NBA assistant coaches.
