BLACKSBURG, Va. — William & Mary track and field wrapped up the first day of the Hokie Invitational on Friday, highlighted by a school record from Finn Middleton in the 60m hurdles and a freshman record by Leighton McGee in the pole vault. The Tribe had seven top-10 performances as a team.

Middleton broke the record in the finals with a time of 8.10, eclipsing the previous mark set by Daniel Layton at the Navy Invitational in 2022. The freshman improved upon his prelim time of 8.13.

In the 60m prelims, Andrew Ernst delivered a personal-best time of 7.00. He then one-upped himself in the finals, clocking in at 6.98 for the fourth-fastest time in school history.

The Tribe saw a trio of top-10 individual performances in the women's 300m, with Avery Glidden (41.21), Kennedy Reynolds (41.47), and Jamison Gilmore (41.82) leading the Green & Gold. On the men's side of the 300m, Jacob Robinson's time of 34.41 was tied for second-fastest in school history, while freshman Peter Pedall clocked in at 36.69 for eighth all-time.

In the field events, W&M had a pair of rookies impress in the pole vault. McGee posted a clearance of 4.90m (16'0.75"), the best ever by a Tribe freshman and seventh all-time. Raina Fitzwater cleared the bar at 3.79m (12'5.25"), cracking the top-10 on the women's side.

In the women's weight throw, Talia Anderson and Amelia Bawcombe finished second and third, respectively. Anderson hurled the ball a distance of 18.18m (59'7.75"), setting a personal-best that remains third all-time. Amelia Bawcombe delivered a throw of 18.08m (59'3.5").
