WILMINGTON, N.C. - William & Mary senior Albert Hansen won the A2 Singles Flight at the season-opening Porter's Neck Invitational.
 
Hansen won all four of his matches in straight-sets to claim the singles title. He opened with a 6-0, 6-3, over Brad Beck on Friday, before tallying two Saturday wins to earn a spot in the finals. Hansen topped Hampton's Tsihon Fedorov, 7-6 (1), 6-1, in the quarterfinals and then downed UNCW's Brady Hussey, 6-4, 6-3, in the semifinals.
 
In Sunday's championship, Hansen battled close with UNCW's Alexander Thompson, before pulling the victory behind narrow set wins, 6-4, 7-6 (8).
 
In doubles, Katz and Hansen picked up a consolation round win in Flight A, topping Hampton's Benedict Badza and Rafael Padilha, 6-2.
 
In Flight C, Nilsson teamed with Hampton's Kevin Jorquera and the duo topped the Tennessee Tech pair of Richard Rodolfo Garavi Yepez and Elyad Oshnavie, 6-4, in the opening round.
 
The Tribe returns to action next week when it take part in the Liberty Dual, Sept. 26-28, in Lynchburg, Va.
