TRIBE NOTES

Last Time Out
The Green and Gold engaged in a wild battle with No. 20 Virginia Tech on Sunday evening in Blacksburg, playing the Hokies to a 3-3 draw. The game began rather mundane with a total of five shots in the first half and VT taking a 1-0 lead to the break. The final 45 minutes were the exact opposite with both offensive units constantly on the attack. Ivey Crain equalized for the Tribe in the 58th minute which was answered by the Hokies exactly 60 seconds later to make it 2-1. Lindsay Wilson found the back of the net to once again pull the Tribe level for her fourth goal of the season in the 64th minute. VT would again take the lead in the 71st minute before Brooke Oswald provided the late fireworks for W&M, scoring off an assist from Ellie Leffer with 1:54 to play, allowing the Tribe to come away with a result against a nationally ranked opponent.

Wilson's Hot Start
Whenever the Tribe has generated an attack this season there has been a good chance that Lindsay Wilson is involved. The junior netted her team-leading fourth goal against the Hokies and is now up to nine points in the first seven games. Wilson has already surpassed her career-high in both goals and points, topping her freshman season where she had seven points off two goals and three assists. She has five points over the last two games for W&M.

Ivey in Action
After being held without a point in the first three games of the year, preseason All-CAA selection Ivey Crain has found her stride for the Tribe. With her goal on Sunday, Crain has now found the back of the net in three of the last four matches for W&M. The senior from Milton, Ga. is a three-time All-CAA selection and has led the Tribe in scoring in each of her first three collegiate seasons. Her 26 career goals leave her six away from top 10 all-time in program history. Notably, World Cup winning coach Jill Ellis is the benchmark for that threshold with 32 goals.

Gettin' Shots Up
After taking just 14 total shots over its first two games, the Green and Gold has emphasized its offensive attack as of late. Over the last five contests the Tribe is averaging 11.8 shots per game and posted a season-high 17 two matches ago against American.

Nationally Ranked Result
The draw for W&M against the No. 20 Hokies was the program's first result against a nationally ranked opponent since tying No. 6 Hofstra in October of 2021.

Career Firsts
The Tribe's equalizing goal in the 89th minute on Sunday not only was pivotal to leaving Blacksburg with a result but was the first career goal and points for Brooke Oswald and the first career assist and point for freshman Ellie Leffler.

Hunting the Unbeaten
The Tribe looks to knock off its second unbeaten opponent of the year on Friday in Newark. Delaware enters the match with a clean 6-0-2 mark. W&M ended App State's 3-0-0 start with a 2-0 victory on Aug. 24.

Same Schools Different Conferences
The Tribe and the Blue Hens meet for the first time since Delaware's departure from the CAA this year. The two teams have met 24 times previously with W&M holding a 16-5-3 lead all-time and a 14-5-2 advantage when the schools were conference foes. The Blue Hens have won three of the last five meetings however, including a 1-0 win last year in Williamsburg.
