GREENWOOD, Ind. — Graduate outfielder
Ben Parker has been named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) First Team Academic All-American, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
Parker recorded a 3.52 cumulative GPA in the classroom and graduated with a Master of Business Administration. The Los Altos, Calif. native was a CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection and winner of the William & Mary Provost Award.
On the field, Parker put together a historic campaign, batting .407 with 70 runs, 23 doubles, 11 home runs and 50 RBI en route to being named the CAA Co-Player of the Year and a Third Team ABCA/Rawlings All-American. He also slugged .684 with a .498 on-base percentage and posting a program-record 34-game hitting streak during the regular season. Parker ranked fourth nationally in hits, 10th in average, and 10th in doubles during the regular season. His 94 hits were the third-most in single-season program history, and his career .488 on-base percentage is in all-time record.
Parker is the first Tribe baseball player to be named a First Team Academic All-American and the sixth overall.

ABOUT THE CSC ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN TEAM
To qualify for the CSC Academic All-American Team, student-athletes must first be selected to the Academic All-District Team. They must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above. The All-American Team is voted on by a sub-group of the Academic All-America Core Program Committee. Those with the highest academic and athletic credentials are selected.
