6/25/2025 1:00:00 PM

WILLIAMSBURG, Va.—William & Mary women's soccer head coach, Julie Shackford announced the Tribe's schedule for the 2025 season on Wednesday.

For the second consecutive year the Tribe will be kicking off their campaign against an in-state foe, opening the season at home against George Mason on Aug. 14 at Martin Family Stadium. Since 2011 the Tribe is 6-0-1 against the Patriots including a 3-0 win in Fairfax last season. Overall, the Tribe holds a 25-14-6 advantage in the series.

The only other repeat non-conference opponent from a year ago for Shackford's squad will be the first road test of the season, Old Dominion on Aug. 17. W&M has dominated the series with its local 757 rival, holding a 24-6-2 overall record, but is looking for the program's first win in Norfolk over the Monarchs since 2016.

Following the first two games the Tribe will face opponents it hasn't seen in nearly 15 years, hosting Loyola (Md.) on Aug. 21 and App State on Aug. 24. The Tribe and the Greyhounds last met in 2010 in Williamsburg for a W&M 5-0 win. App State squares up with W&M for just the second time ever and first since 2011, which ended in a Tribe 2-0 neutral site win in Richmond.

The Tribe's third and final in-state non-conference game will come at James Madison on Aug. 28 with a home match against American following on Aug. 31. The Green and Gold will then begin a four-match road stretch, closing out the non-conference at Virginia Tech (Sept. 7) and recent CAA departure Delaware (Sept. 12). The Tribe will be eyeing another ACC road win when traveling to the Hokies after beating NC State last year.

The back end of the road stand opens conference play at Drexel (Sept. 18) and at Towson (Sept. 21). W&M's first home CAA game will come on Sept. 27 against Elon with a trip to Campbell following on Oct. 2. Those two matches will be the Tribe's first against fellow CAA South foes, with the CAA going to a division-based scheduling model this year.

Other divisional games for the Tribe include hosting Charleston (Oct. 5), traveling to UNCW (Oct. 11) and hosting Hampton in the season finale on Oct. 26. W&M will face CAA North opponents, Northeastern and Monmouth, at home on Oct. 16 and Oct. 19 respectively.

The top three teams from the North and South divisions will advance to the postseason.
