Baseball Travels to Duke for Midweek Clash

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The William & Mary baseball team will hit the road as they travel to Duke for a midweek matchup in Durham, N.C. on Tuesday evening. First pitch from Jack Coombs Field is set for 6 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.

LAST TIME OUT
The Tribe is coming off a series win over Elon this weekend. W&M won the Friday opener 8-4 on the backs of a collective effort from the bullpen that saw four arms hold Elon to one run over the final six frames. On Saturday, the Tribe pounded out 18 hits and homered a season-high four times in a 13-12 victory. Elon took the Sunday finale 10-0.

TWO AT A TIME
Outfielders Ben Parker and Lucas Carmichael are both on 17-game hitting streaks entering Tuesday's contest. Those tie for the ninth-longest streaks by a Tribe hitter since 2004 (as far as single-game records date back).

Parker has eight multi-hit games in his last nine contests. Carmichael has 16 multi-hit games for the year and has posted career highs in average (.391), slugging (.578), and RBI (tied, 24).

LEAGUE RECOGNITION
On Monday, OF Christian Rush was named the CAA Co-Player of the Week. The senior had a monster week at the dish, batting 8-for-16 (.500) with four runs, a homer, and six RBI. In Saturday's 13-12 win over Elon on Saturday, Rush finished a triple shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and a homer. He posted multi-hit outings in all three games against the Phoenix, extending his hitting streak to seven games.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR...SO FAR
INF Jamie Laskofski is hitting .339 this season, the highest average for a CAA freshman. He also leads all rookies in hits (39) and runs (35).

SAVING THE DAY
RHP Tyler Kelly picked up the save in both of the Tribe's wins over Elon. They were the first two saves of Kelly's career as the freshman tossed 2.1 innings with four strikeouts combined.

STAT NUGGETS
  • The Tribe ranks sixth in the nation and first in the CAA in batting average at .330.
  • The Green & Gold also leads the CAA in hits (347), on-base percentage (.413), scoring (7.9 runs per game), triples (11), and slugging percentage (.489)
  • Parker sits atop the CAA in batting average (.415), hits (54), runs (39), and total bases (83).
  • Rush has gotten on base in 13 straight games. He's tied for the CAA lead in RBI (36) and ranks second in slugging (.672) and home runs (nine).
  • W&M hit .356 in the Elon series.
  • The 18 hits on Saturday were tied for second-most in a game this year, and the four home runs were the most since March 13, 2024 at Longwood (five).
  • RHP Daniel Lingle has made 17 appearances, all in relief, which ranks ninth in Division I.
  • LHP Chad Yates posted a career-high six strikeouts in his April 4 start against Elon.

MILESTONE TRACKER
  • Rush recorded his 100th career RBI on April 5 vs. Elon. His next run will also put him at the century mark.
  • Parker notched his 300th career hit on April 5 vs. Elon.
  • INF Ethan Rothstein got his 100th career run when he scored against VCU on April 4.
  • UTL Derek Holmes is two hits away from reaching 200 for his career.
  • After starting on Sunday, C Jerry Barnes III has played in 100 games with the Green & Gold.

SERIES HISTORY
Duke leads the all-time series 21-13-1. The Tribe scored an upset win last year in Durham as they took down the sixth-ranked Blue Devils for the highest-ranked win in program history. W&M has won two of the last three games and split the last six overall.
