WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The William & Mary baseball team will continue their seven-game homestand as they host Elon for a three-game conference series this weekend at Plumeri Park. First pitch times are slated for Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. All games will be streamed live on FloSports.
LAST TIME OUT
The Tribe couldn't keep up with the VCU offense as they fell to the Rams 16-4 in midweek action on Tuesday. OF
Lucas Carmichael went deep, part of a 2-for-5 night, while OF
Ben Parker went 2-for-5 at the plate. As a team, W&M had 10 base knocks and hit for the cycle, increasing their streak of double-digit hit games to 10 in a row.
CARMICHAEL, L.(L)C.
With a home run against VCU, Carmichael has hit five home runs in his last six games, after hitting none in his first 146 collegiate contests. His slugging percentage is a career-best .591, ranking third on the team behind Parker (.653) and OF
Christian Rush (.317).
DOUBLE TROUBLE
Carmichael and Parker both enter the weekend with 14-game hitting streaks, dating back to March 9 against Kansas State. Carmichael is slashing .433/.493/.783 over that span, while the graduate senior Parker has a .478/.507/.7651 line.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
On March 30, INF
Jamie Laskofski hit a walk-off single to give W&M a 16-15 win over Hofstra. It was the second game-winning hit by the Tribe this season (the previous was Carmichael's on Feb. 22 against Marist). The freshman phenom had a 4-for-6 day, adding two runs, two RBI, and a stolen base. The four hits tied a career-high. For his efforts, Laskofski was named the CAA Co-Rookie of the Week.
