WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary baseball alumnus Ben Williamson '23 will make his MLB debut for the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday.
Williamson was called up from the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers on Sunday. He will become the 12th Tribe alum to play in the majors, and the first since Will Rhymes, who had a three-year career with Detroit and Tampa Bay from 2010-12.
Williamson had a standout career in Williamsburg from 2020-23. A four-year starter, he posted a .327 batting average and .504 slugging percentage for his career, racking up 200 hits and 89 RBI. The Chantilly, Va. native is the first and only player in program history to be named First Team All-CAA in three consecutive seasons, leading the league and ranked 38th nationally with a .390 batting average as a senior.
Williamson is currently the 13th-highest ranked prospect in the Mariners organization. The 57th overall draft pick in 2023, he owns a career .281 batting average in the minor leagues.
The Mariners will face the Cincinnati Reds at 6:40 p.m. ET in the first of a three-games series.
