WALLACE, N.C.— Jennifer Osborne's consistent play led the way in the William & Mary women's golf team's spring opening event, the UNCW River Landing Classic, on Monday and Tuesday.
The freshman posted a 22
nd place finish while W&M's team score of 954 (318-319-317) landed them in seventh place.
Osborne (+15, 231) was very steady over the 54-holes at River Landing G.C. in Wallace, N.C., firing scores of 77 and 76 in the first two rounds on Monday before posting a 78 in Tuesday's final round. She only posted one score worse than bogey over the 54 holes, with her best nine being the closing side of the second round, coming home at 1-over 37.
Junior
Avery Thompson also scored a top-25 finish to kick off the spring. Thompson opened with a 77 on Monday including two birdies on the back nine to post even-par 36 on that side. She followed that up with scores of 78 and 79 over the final two rounds to finish 18-over for the event in T-25.
Samantha Skinner finished the event in a tie for 35
th thanks to scores of 82-81-81 to total 244 over the two days.
The Tribe's lineup was completed by
Faith Garcia and
Katie Suk who finished 41
st and 42
nd respectively. Garcia posted scores of 82-85-82 for a 249 total, while Suk opened with 87-84 before bouncing back with a final round 79 to total 250.
Simone Senk made her first appearance for the Tribe this season and competed as an individual and finished T-39. She shot scores of 78-83 on Monday before a 87 on Tuesday. Her final round featured an eagle on River Landing's par-4 17
th.
