WILLIAMSBURG, Va.—Top-15 finishes from
Logan Hunter,
Camden Goldknopf and
Luke Walmet paced William & Mary men's golf to its first top five finish in its home event since 2021, the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate, on Monday and Tuesday.
The Tribe finished with a team score of 13-over 865 (286-290-287), nine shots behind the winners Longwood. Longwood's Justin LaRue and Georgetown's Carsten Judge shared the individual honors at 8-under-par over the 54 holes at the Golden Horseshoe's Gold Course.
After a hot start in the final round, the Tribe found themselves tied for the lead with Lancers but were unable to stay in touch on the back nine to make a run.
The event marked the first time this season W&M has posted scores of 290-or-lower in all three of a tournament.
13 teams in total made up this year's tournament field.
Hunter, who finished T-11 at 2-over, started out strong with a 2-under 69 with six birdies on Monday morning. He added four more birds in the afternoon on his way to posting 36 on both the front and back sides for a 72. Hunter turned in red figures on Tuesday morning's final round before carding a 74 for a 54-hole total of 215.

Luke Walmet was a shot behind Goldknopf at T-15. The Tribe sophomore was also very consistent, posting scores of 73-72-72. Walmet's final round on Tuesday was his most steady of the week, carding 14 pars with a pair of bogeys and a pair of birdies.
