The Tribe fell in the series opener to Rhode Island, losing two of three games. The teams split a doubleheader on Friday, with URI winning the opener 10-9 and the Tribe coming back to win the nightcap 5-4 in seven innings. CF Ben Parker went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in game one.

In game two, INF Henry Jackson was the hero with a go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning. RHP Owen Pierce slammed the door shut, pitching four scoreless innings in relief to earn the win. URI then took the Sunday finale by a 36-22 final.

HISTORIC OFFENSE
Sunday's game against the Rams saw a historic offensive output for both sides. It was the fourth-most combined runs in a single game in Division I history (58), and the highest-scoring game since FDU and Coppin State combined for 59 runs in 2016. The previous high for a W&M game was 42 runs on March 11, 2000 in a 23-19 win over Delaware.

The Tribe's 22 runs were tied for the 19th-most in single-game program history. W&M added 16 hits and 12 walks.

LOCKING IT DOWN
In his Friday outing, Pierce held URI to just one hit over four innings, and opposing batters were 1-for-13 (.077) against him. The junior from Fairfax, Va. also struck out five in what was tied for the second-longest outing of his career.

FRESHMEN PHENOMS
The Tribe saw two phenomenal debuts from their freshmen starters over the weekend. INF Jamie Laskofski went 5-for-11 (.455) with seven runs and three walks, scoring four times in Sunday's game. His infield counterpart Matthew Kosuda batted 3-for-9 with five runs and five RBI, including his first career home run in his collegiate debut.

HEY, 10
