Men's Basketball Continues Homestand with Drexel on Saturday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary continues its homestand when it hosts Drexel for Military Appreciation Day on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m., and the game will be televised regionally on MASN, presented by Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, with Jay Colley and Bobby Dwyer on the call.

Fans can catch the action on the Tribe Sports Network with Andrew Phillips and W&M Hall of Famer Steve Jolley '97 on the call. Locally in Williamsburg, fans can listen in on The Tide 92.3 FM.

W&M News and Notes
 
- The Tribe and Dragons play for the second time in the last 10 days. Since the 2006-07 season, W&M leads the series with Drexel at 18-17, but UD has won the last four including 86-66 in Philadelphia on Feb. 6.
 
- The Tribe is one of 16 teams nationally that is undefeated at home this season, as of Feb. 13. W&M is 11-0 at Kaplan Arena, the fourth longest single-season streak in school history and the best since 2016-17 (12). Overall, W&M is riding a 12-game home court win streak, the eighth-best active streak in the country.
 
- Since returning from a four-game absence due to injury, junior Chase Lowe has been on a roll. Over the last four games, he is averaging 11 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest, while shooting 58% (18-of-31) from the field. Lowe scored a team-high 15 points and his lay-up with 4.6 seconds left lifted W&M to a 61-60 win over Hofstra on Thursday.
 
- Senior Gabe Dorsey has recorded double figures in four-straight games and is scoring at a 16.7 clip over the last three contests. In CAA play, Dorsey has upped his scoring average to 13.8 per contest, which ranks 21st in the league. A preseason All-CAA First Team pick, he erupted for a career-high 30 points in the win over Hampton on Jan. 23 and surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career.
 
- After a slow start in close games, the Tribe has won its last six decided by six or fewer points,  including four in CAA play. Three of those CAA wins have been by a single possession, including Thursday's 61-60 win over Hofstra. W&M lost its first four games decided by a six or fewer points, falling at Winthrop, vs. NC Central, at App State, and at ODU by a combined 11 points.
 
- The Tribe connected on 14 3-pointers in the win over Charleston on Feb. 3, which marked the 14th game with 10 or more 3-pointers this season. W&M is 11-3 when it knocks down 10 or more 3's in a game.
 
- W&M has scored 42.6% (873-of-2047) of its points off the bench and is averaging 33.6 points per game, which ranks eighth nationally. The Tribe relies on its bench for significant minutes as well and ranks 20th nationally in % of minutes played off the bench (41%) according to KenPom.com.
 
- The Tribe dished out 27 helpers on its 33 made field goals in the win over Charleston on Feb. 3. That total ranks 11th on W&M's single-game list, and the Tribe only turned it over five times against CofC. It was the second time this season the Tribe turned the ball over just five times in a game. W&M ranks 27th nationally in assists per game (16.7) and 14th in assist rate, assisting on 61.8% of its made field goals.
 
- In the Tribe's win over Monmouth on Jan. 25, W&M rallied from an 11-point deficit with 13:05 remaining thanks in large part to a 14-0 run. It marked the Tribe's first double-digit comeback under head coach Brian Earl, and the program's first since 2021 when it overcame a 14-point deficit to top Northeastern at home.
 
- For the second time, freshman Isaiah Mbeng was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Jan. 27 after averaging 7.3 points, 4.3 assists, and 2.3 steals across three games. He is one of three multiple time honorees in the league this season. Mbeng also received the award on Jan. 6.
 
- Mbeng leads the Tribe and ranks among the CAA top 10 in assists (seventh at 3.3), assist-to-turnover ratio (third at 2.02), and steals (10th at 1.4). He is also one of the top freshmen in the country, coming in seventh nationally among rookies in a/t ratio, 13th in assists, and 19th in steals, as of Feb. 13.
 
- Gabe Dorsey is known for his ability to shoot the basketball. He ranks 22nd nationally in total 3-pointers (76), 41st in 3-pointers made per game (2.92), and 49th in 3FG% (40.9). He is W&M's career leader in 3's per game (3.15), while ranking third in total 3-pointers (265), just 13 shy of second place.
 
- The Tribe has used a balanced attack this season. In total, 12 different W&M players have scored in double figures in a game, which is the fourth most in the country and most in the CAA. Ten different players are averaging at least five points per game, and seven have led W&M in scoring in a game this season.
 
- W&M possesses the top offense in the CAA, leading the league in effective field goal % (54.5), 3-pointers made (10.3), assists (16.7), 3-pointers attempted (30.2), and fast-break points (15.2). The Tribe is second in the league in scoring (78.7).
 
- Brian Earl-coached teams are known among the fastest paced in the country. According to KenPom.com, W&M ranks 19th nationally in adjusted tempo (71.3) and third in shortest average possession length (14.9).
 
- Three-point shooting has been a key piece of Earl's offense, and W&M is one of the top teams in the country from distance this season. W&M ranks third nationally in % of field goal attempts coming from 3 (51.6%), eighth in 3-pointers attempted per game (30.2), 16th in 3-pointers made per game (10.3), and 29th in % of scoring from 3-pointers (38.7%).
