WILLIAMSBURG, Va.—The William & Mary women's soccer team closes the regular season by hosting Hampton on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Martin Family Stadium. The match will be broadcast on FloCollege.
W&M has already clinched its spot in the CAA Championship but will be looking to earn home field in the quarterfinals on Thursday with a win over the Pirates.
Clear Bag Policy and Metal Detectors
Furthering its commitment to a first class and secure environment at home athletic events, William & Mary will implement the use of walk-through metal detectors at the entrances to athletic venues (both ticketed and non-ticketed events) beginning in the fall of 2025. This enhanced security method mirrors standard practice at most major professional and intercollegiate athletic events throughout the country and compliments the
Clear Bag Policy already in place. Fans will proceed through metal detectors prior to having their tickets scanned or entering a venue for non-tickets events. Entrants will not need to remove items such as belts, cell phones, coins, jackets, jewelry, watches, wallets, shoes or other small objects. If additional screening is necessary, security staff will ask the individual to proceed to a secondary screening area, where they will be asked to divest themselves of certain items and pass through again until clear.
TRIBE NOTES
Last Time Out
The Tribe punched its ticket to the postseason last time out with a 1-0 victory over a strong Monmouth side.

Mia Abbey in the 79
th minute. The Tribe outshot the Hawks by a tally of 14-4 with Monmouth unable to muster a single shot on goal.
Back in the Postseason
Julie Shackford's squad will return to postseason play after missing out last year on a berth. The last time W&M made an appearance in the CAA Championships; the Tribe made it to the semifinals for the first time since 2017 before bowing out to the hosts Towson. W&M outlasted Northeastern 7-6 in penalty kicks in the quarterfinals for its most recent postseason victory.
Freshmen Impact
W&M has had some significant contributions this year from its freshman class. Four rookies have recorded points this season for the Tribe, led by
Ellie Leffler's three goals and one assist.
Ironwomen
While there have been some alterations to the Tribe's starting XI throughout the year, six players have been a constant.
Lindsay Wilson,
Ivey Crain,
Kenley Campbell,
Ella Ledwith,
Molly Widderich and
Leila Greene have started all 16 matches this season. Campbell and Widderich have specifically become stalwarts of the Tribe's backline. Campbell has played all but 14 minutes this season, while Widderich has only spent 25 total minutes on the sidelines.
Postseason Outlook
Where the Tribe plays its quarterfinal match in the CAA Championship is still yet to be determined, but also in W&M's control. With a win over the Pirates the Tribe would lock up home field for the quarterfinal. The opponent of the game is also to be determined. Elon currently sits tied with W&M for second in the CAA South with 14 points. Elon's opponent on Sunday, Charleston, has 13 points and needs a win to get into the postseason and have a date with the Tribe. A win for Elon, or a draw, would lock in a Tribe-Phoenix quarterfinal.
History with the Pirates
The three previous meetings between the Tribe and the Pirates have been all Green and Gold. W&M has outscored its local 757 foe 14-0 the last three seasons. Last year's match was a 3-0 decision with
