Clear Bag Policy and Metal Detectors at Zable Stadium in 2025
Furthering its commitment to a first class and secure environment at home athletic events, William & Mary will implement the use of walk-through metal detectors at the entrances to athletic venues (both ticketed and non-ticketed events) beginning in the fall of 2025. This enhanced security method mirrors standard practice at most major professional and intercollegiate athletic events throughout the country and compliments the
Clear Bag Policy already in place. Fans will proceed through metal detectors prior to having their tickets scanned or entering a venue for non-tickets events. Entrants will not need to remove items such as belts, cell phones, coins, jackets, jewelry, watches, wallets, shoes or other small objects. If additional screening is necessary, security staff will ask the individual to proceed to a secondary screening area, where they will be asked to divest themselves of certain items and pass through again until clear.
W&M enters Saturday's game with a 3-3 overall record and a 2-1 mark in conference play. Prior to its open date, the Tribe earned a 38-34 victory against NC A&T in its last outing to improve to 3-0 at home. In addition to ranking fourth in the CAA in scoring (26.8), W&M is averaging 32.0 points per game during its last three contests. Quarterback
Tyler Hughes is one of the league's most dynamic playmakers and ranks second in the CAA in passing efficiency (151.5) and sixth in total offense (242.3). Defensively, W&M has forced at least one turnover in 15 of the last 16 games. Linebacker
Luke Banbury ranks fifth nationally in tackles per game (12.5).
Although Elon suffered its first conference loss versus Villanova last Saturday, the Phoenix enters the weekend with a 4-3 overall record and a 2-1 mark in CAA action. Elon currently ranks second in the conference in scoring (29.1), while it is averaging a league-best 190.3 rushing yards per game. Defensively, the Phoenix rank second in the CAA in rushing defense (128.9) and have posted a league-leading 18 sacks.
Saturday's game will mark the 11th meeting between W&M and Elon, as the all-time series is tied at 5-5. Elon has won the last three matchups, including a 40-36 victory at Zable Stadium last season. Just one of the last seven meetings has been decided by more than eight points.
