TRIBE NOTES

• The Matchup
William & Mary eyes a 2-0 start in conference play when it welcomes Elon to Kaplan Arena on Sunday afternoon. The game is set to tip at 1 p.m. on FloCollege.

• The Opponent
Elon enters Sunday's matchup at an even 6-6 after falling in their conference opener to NC A&T. The Phoenix offense struggled on Friday against the Aggies, only scoring 40 points in a 17-point loss. Elon, like the Tribe, traveled to both Long Beach State and Longwood in the non-conference, and was able to earn wins against both.

• Last Time Out
Jana Sallman stole the show on Friday night in the Tribe's 71-52 win in the CAA opener. The sophomore center made her first career start, and after being scoreless in the first quarter found her groove in the second. When the dust settled Sallman had a 20 point and 15 rebound double-double in the win. Kayla Rolph added 13 in her second start of the season as the Tribe finished with 22 assists on their 33 field goals.

• Shot at History
After tying the program record of 12 CAA wins in both of her first two seasons, Erin Dickerson Davis has a chance to make some more program history on Sunday. With a win the Tribe would begin conference play 2-0 in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history. It would also mark just the third time in the last eight years W&M has begun CAA action 2-0.

• Tika Time
Jana Sallman's 20 points and 17 rebounds vs. Hampton were not only career-highs but one of the best performances by a Tribe player in recent history. The Cairo, Egypt native posted W&M's first 17-plus rebound game since 2017 and the first 20 and 15 game for the Tribe since Abby Rendle had 25 and 17 to go with 10 blocks in a triple-double effort on 11/21/17 at ECU. Sallman's 17 boards were four more than any other player in the CAA grabbed in opening night action. She has posted career-high points in back-to-back games after scoring 11 vs. Maryland.

• Rolph Heating Up
Much like Sallman, Kayla Rolph has seen a major uptick in production recently. Rolph's 13 vs. Hampton marked her second game in the last three scoring in double figures. Over the last five games the junior is averaging 9.4 points per game after averaging just 1.6 over the first seven games. She also added a career-high-tying four assists against the Pirates to go with six boards.

• Glass=Crashed
For the first time this season W&M dominated the glass in Friday's win over Hampton, outrebounding the Pirates 48-29. The +19 margin on the boards is not only 14 better than any other game this season, but the best margin in Erin Dickerson Davis' tenure with the Tribe. The last time W&M was +19 or better on the boards was Nov. 2024 against Randolph.

• Injury Bug
After a year in which injuries were few and far between for the Tribe, the injury bug has caught up with them through 12 games in 2024-25. The Tribe has had five different players miss time with injury this year after Anahi Cauley's absence against Hampton, making it 15 total games W&M players have missed due to injury. Natalie Fox (7), Alexa Mikeska (3), Rebekah Frisby-Smith (2), Beckwith (2) and Cauley (1) is the group who makes up those absences.

• Starting Strong
The first quarter has no doubt been the strong suit of the Tribe through 12 games, outscoring opponents 184-151 in the frame.

• Everyone Shares
Six different players had three-or-more assists for W&M in the win over Hampton Friday, helping the team to a season-high 22 helpers. W&M currently ranks 29th in the nation in assist percentage with 64.7% of the Tribe's buckets being assisted.

• Finally Home Again
From Nov. 29 until Friday the Tribe did not play a game at home. The 35 straight days without a home game is the fifth longest stretch in DI all year.

• Home Weekend, Home Advantage
The opening week of conference play is also the Tribe's first "home weekend of the season", where they will play at home on both Friday and Sunday. Under Erin Dickerson Davis W&M is 8-4 during those weekends in which they play back-to-back home games. This year's schedule features four "home weekends" for the Tribe compared to just three the last two seasons.

• Ballin' Bella
Preseason All-CAA selection, Bella Nascimento, has lived up to the hype for the Tribe so far this year, pacing the team at just under 13 points per game. Nascimento has led W&M in scoring in seven of the first 12 outings and scored in double figures on nine occasions this season.
• Fond Memories
The Tribe has fond memories of their matchups last season with both of their opening weekend opponents, Hampton and Elon. The Tribe swept both teams going 4-0 against the pair last season. W&M also swept both Hofstra and Delaware last regular season.

• Newfound Height
The Tribe adds six new players to the roster in 2024-25, four freshmen and two transfers. Five of the six newcomers are over 6-feet tall. The average height of the six new players is slightly over 6'1, while the average height of the eight returners is 5'9.

• Full House in College Park
The sellout crowd of 17,950 at XFINITY Center to watch No. 8 Maryland and W&M on 12/19 made it the highest attended game that the Tribe has ever played.

• Coach E Extended
W&M Director of Athletics, Brian Mann, announced in late August that head coach Erin Dickerson Davis had agreed to a contract extension through 2029. Through two seasons Davis became the fastest coach to 20 CAA wins in program history and fastest to 30 career wins in 95 years.

• 60 is the Magic Number
60 points is a key number for W&M. The Tribe is 20-6 under Erin Dickerson Davis when holding teams below 60. While team's have had a mixed bag of success scoring in the 60s vs. W&M, opponents are 31-4 against them when scoring 70+ since 2020-21.
