RICHMOND, Va.—After establishing herself as one of the top players in the Coastal Athletic Association, William & Mary lacrosse standout
Paige Gilbert was selected to the
league's preseason all-conference honorable mention team on Thursday.
The team was selected by a vote of the league's nine head coaches.
A four-year starter, Gilbert was a second-team all-conference selection last season after leading the team in points (37) and goals (34). Additionally, she ranked second on the squad in draw controls (53), which ranks eighth on W&M's single-season list.
Gilbert enters her senior campaign with career totals that include 63 points (53g, 10a), 73 draw controls, 53 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers.
Also an exceptional student, the Doylestown, Pa., native has earned CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll distinction multiple times.
W&M, which was voted eighth in the CAA Preseason Poll, will open the season when it plays at Coastal Carolina on Feb. 8, while it will host George Washington for its home opener at Martin Family Stadium on Feb. 15.
