Skinner Leads Way as Women's Golf Drops Dual with Radford

WILLIAMSBURG, Va.— Samantha Skinner set the pace for the William & Mary women's golf team, but Radford ultimately beat the Tribe in the season opening Dual at Kingsmill, 923-953.
 
The Tribe posted team scores of 323-320-310.
 
Skinner posted a 235 total to finish as W&M's low finisher over the 54-holes at Kingsmill Resort's River Course on Sunday through Tuesday.
 
The sophomore from Blacksburg, Va. opened up with an 83 on Sunday and got better every day following. She posted 5-over 77 in the second round before firing a 75 in the final round Tuesday. Her third-round effort was highlighted by a 1-under 35 on the front-nine, playing the first eight holes bogey-free.
 
Jennifer Osborne made a successful collegiate debut for W&M, shooting 76 in the opening round to come in as the team's medalist through 18. The Reston, Va. native posted 83 in the second round but bounced back to go out in 37 through nine holes in the final round. She finished with a 77 to post a 236 total.
 
Sophomore Katie Suk finished the event at 26-over 242 with scores of 83-79-80. The highlight of the three days for Suk came at the start of the second round, as she rattled off three birdies in the opening four holes.
 
Avery Thompson finished one shot behind Suk with scores of 84-81-78. The junior made back-to-back birdies on 10 and 11 in the final round on her way to playing her last nine in 2-over 38, her best nine of the week.
 
Ava Svindland rounded out the W&M lineup with a total of 266 (81-97-88).
 
Up Next
The Tribe will tee it up in their first multi-team tournament of the season on Monday and Tuesday at the Elon Invitational in Burlington, N.C.
