MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – A trio of William & Mary runners finished in the top-15 to help the Tribe women's squad capture second place at Saturday's Spider Alumni Open. The men's team placed third in the Richmond-hosted event and W&M's season opener at Pole Green Park.

For the second straight year, Sofia Istnick paced the Green & Gold in the women's college 4K, crossing the finish line in seventh at 13:56.1. Arianna DeBoer wasn't far behind, placing ninth in 14:04.5, while Catherine Garrison was 11^th with a time of 14:06.7. Overall, the Tribe saw six harriers finish in the top-25. The Tribe entered the season ranked No. 15 in the Southeast Region.

In the 6K on the men's side , Nate Jennings led the Tribe with a 10^th place showing (18:38.5). Brendan DiStefano (18:44.3) took 16^th, while Henry Anderson (18:45.4) was 17^th.  As a team, the Tribe came into 2024 ranked No. 13 in the Southeast Region.

Virginia took the team win in both the men's and women's races. The Cavalier women are ranked No. 17 nationally and No. 2 in the Southeast Region. The men are ranked No. 23 nationally and No. 5 in the Southeast Region.
