TRIBE NOTES

Last Time Out
The Tribe (1-2-0, 0-0 CAA) snagged their first win of the season Sunday with a decisive 3-0 result against George Mason in Fairfax. Ivey Crain put the Tribe up in the 24th minute, beat the Mason keeper to a through ball from Leah Iglesias for her first goal of the season. Iglesias provided the first insurance goal of the evening minutes after halftime, scoring off a cross from Peyton Costello from 10 yards out. Sheridan Brummett provided the goal that put the game away in the 86th minute. Nora Green-Orset fired a shot off the crossbar that fell right to foot of Brummett who finished off the rebound for her first career goal. The Tribe dominated all 90 minutes, outshooting Mason 19-3. Jazzy Lorenz picked up her first collegiate win in goal for W&M.

Shooters Shoot
Despite a 1-2-0 start the Tribe has outshot their opponents in each of the first three matches and by a large margin on the season. Through the first 270 minutes of regular season play W&M has outshot their opponents 54-22 for an average of 18-7.3 per game. The Tribe ranks second in the CAA in shots on goal per game with 9.0 while also ranking second in the conference in total shots.

Elite Ivey
Already known as a premier offensive weapon, Ivey Crain has quickly shown off her ability to create attacking chances for herself in 2024. The preseason All-CAA selection currently sits third in the nation in shots per game, while ranking fifth in shots on goal per game. She has posted 19 shot attempts in the first three games of the season. The junior notched her first goal of the season on Sunday at George Mason, putting the Tribe up 1-0 in the 24th minute. Crain finished last season top-10 in the CAA in shots per game, shots on goal per game and shot accuracy on her way to a Second Team All-CAA selection.

Look Out for Leah
Leah Iglesias not only assisted on the Tribe's first goal of the evening against George Mason but scored in the 47th minute to put W&M up 2-0 on their way to victory. The performance was the first time in her career with a goal and an assist in the same game and just the second time in her career racking up more three or more points in a contest. Iglesias scored two goals for four points against Hampton last season.

No Need to Go Far
W&M's 2024 schedule keeps Julie Shackford's squad close to home for most of the season, especially early on. The Tribe's first four games of the campaign are all against in-state opponents, with the nine of the first 10 contests, including the first seven, taking place in the state of Virginia. The schedule will only require W&M to travel outside of a bordering state one time, a trip to Monmouth on Sept. 26. The rest of the Tribe's road contests will take place in North Carolina and Maryland.

Scouting the Rams and the Owls
The Rams are still in search of their first win of the season after being selected third in the A-10 preseason poll. VCU sits at 0-3-0 after losses to ODU, Liberty and NC State. The meeting with the Tribe will be the second of a three-game homestand for the Rams.

Temple also sits at 0-3-0 but will take on Iona Thursday before traveling to Williamsburg. The Owls are still looking for their first goal of the season, being outscored 9-0 in their first three games against Monmouth, Villanova and Wake Forest.

History With the Rams and the Owls
W&M played against both VCU and Temple a year ago, taking down the Owls 4-0 in Philadelphia for the season opener, and drawing the Rams 1-1 in Williamsburg. The Tribe holds a 20-7-4 lead in the all-time series over VCU and are 2-0 in a pair of meetings with Temple.
