WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary right-handed pitcher
Nate Knowles joined elite company as the eighth Tribe baseball player to garner All-America honors. He was tabbed to the NCBWA All-America Third Team, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced Wednesday.
The release came just a day removed from Knowles' first-team ABCA/Rawlings Atlantic All-Region recognition, as he becomes the first W&M baseball All-American since Michael Katz in 2014 and the first All-American pitcher in program history.
The CAA Pitcher of the Year's third season in the Green & Gold was a spectacle, not only marked by the best numbers of his career but some of the greatest numbers the Tribe has seen on the mound.
Knowles finished in the program's top 15 in seven single-season statistics, landing in the top 10 in five of them. His 12.6 strikeouts per nine innings was a third-best mark in program history, which ranked No. 21 in the nation at the end of the regular season.
With 112 strikeouts, the fourth most in W&M history, the junior was ranked No. 15 in the country. He was also nationally ranked in the top 15 with a 2.48 ERA and 5.63 hits per nine innings at No. 10 and No. 14, respectively.
Named a Midseason All-American by Perfect Game, Knowles carried his outstanding year through the final pitch, ending his All-American season with a career-long 7.0 innings and nine strikeouts to earn the win over Northeastern in the CAA Championship.
