Lax Travels to Elon on Sunday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary lacrosse team will return to action when it plays at Elon on Sunday at noon.

A Look at the Tribe
W&M enters Sunday's game with a 4-10 overall record and a 0-5 mark in conference play. Paige Gilbert leads the Tribe with a team-high 31 points (29g, 2a) to go with 42 draw controls. Kate Draddy has also come up big with 26 points (15g, 11a), 58 draw controls and 23 ground balls. She ranks fifth in the CAA with 4.1 draw controls per game. Defensively, Jaylin Locke has posted a team-high 14 caused turnovers with 20 ground balls.

Scouting Elon
Elon currently owns a 6-7 overall record and a 2-3 mark in CAA action after snapping a three-game losing streak with a 16-12 win at Campbell in its last outing. Anna Hackett leads the Phoenix with 34 points (29g, 5a), while Sammy Fisher has totaled 32 points (25g, 7a). MJ Santa Barbara leads the team with 115 draw controls and ranks first in the CAA with 8.8 draw controls per game.

Last Meeting vs. Elon
W&M concluded its 2023 season with a lopsided 18-7 victory against Elon on Senior Day at Martin Family Stadium. The Tribe limited Elon to just two goals in the second half and finished the contest on a 10-0 run to secure the season-ending conference win. London Simonides finished her career in spectacular fashion, as she totaled a career-high five goals to go with an assist. Justyce Barber (3g, 1a) and Paige Gilbert (3g) also posted hat tricks, while Sarah Cipolla (2g, 4a) and Serena Jacobs (2g, 4a) added six points apiece. Cipolla also recorded a game-high nine draw controls to finish her career as the program's career record holder (177).

Last Time Out
W&M fell to No. 15 Stony Brook, 21-8, at Martin Family Stadium on Thursday evening. The contest was knotted at 2-2 midway through the first quarter, but SBU closed the half with 12 unanswered scores to pull away for the conference victory. Paige Gilbert led the Tribe with two goals and three draw controls, while Kate Draddy added two points (1g, 1a), three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Charlotte Troy found the back of the cage twice for the first goals of her collegiate career.
 
Overtime Success
With the 12-11 victory at George Washington earlier this season, W&M has won four of its last five overtime games dating back to 2019.

During the last two seasons, W&M has posted a 5-2 record in games decided by just one goal.

Single-Season Top-10 List  
After totaling three draw controls in W&M's last outing against Stony Brook, Kate Draddy currently ranks fourth on W&M's single-season list for draw controls (58). She needs just two more to pass Caroline Hertzberg for third.

Career Record Watch
One of the most successful goalies in school history, Elise Palmer is ranked seventh in career saves (332). She needs 54 more saves to pass Carlen Sellers for sixth on the all-time list.

Caroline Hertzberg currently ranks 10th all-time at W&M in draw controls (104), while her 51 career caused turnovers is just one shy of moving into the program's all-time top-10 list.

Courtney Vasquenza is also closing in on W&M's top-10 list for caused turnovers with 41.
