W&M News and Notes

- With its win over N.C. A&T on Friday, the Tribe won a game in the CAA Tournament for the eighth time in the last 11 years. It marks the second-straight season in which the tournament's No. 13 seed knocked off the No. 12 seed.

- Towson won the only meeting between the teams earlier this season in Williamsburg, 61-52. Despite the loss, the Tribe has won seven of the last 12 meetings between the two programs.

- The Tribe holds a 2-1 advantage in the programs' CAA Tournament meetings. W&M has won the last two matchups, topping the No. 5-seeded Tigers, 80-66, in the CAA Quarterfinals in 2018 and 75-71 in the 2014 CAA Semifinals. In 2004, No. 9 seed Towson topped No. 8 W&M, 70-65, in the first round.

- As a team, the Tribe is 3-2 all-time in the CAA Tournament against the No. 5 seed. The last time W&M faced the No. 5 seed, Delaware topped No. 4 William & Mary, 85-79, in the 2019 quarterfinals. W&M knocked off Towson when they were the No. 5 seed in the 2018 CAA Quarterfinals

- In the Tribe's first round win over N.C. A&T, sophomore Chase Lowe turned in a historic game, leading W&M with 18 points, a career-high 16 rebounds and six assists. It marked only the sixth game in the country this season that a player had at least 18 points, 16 rebounds and six assists and the first such game in Tribe history. His 16 rebounds were a W&M CAA Tournament record. As of March 7, Lowe was one of only 16 players in the country averaging 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game, and the only player in the CAA.

- Lowe's effort against N.C. A&T was his second-straight double-double after a 13-point, 13-rebound effort in the win over Hampton. He leads the Tribe with seven double-doubles on the year, including six against CAA competition. Lowe is one of two players in the CAA (along with Delaware's Jyare Davis) to rank in the top 20 in the CAA in points, rebounds, and assists.

- W&M knocked down 11 3-pointers in the first round win over N.C. A&T on Friday. It marked the third-straight game in which the Tribe has connected on double-digit 3-pointers. In total, W&M has 13 games this year with 10 or more 3-pointers. The 11 3-pointers were the third most for a Tribe team in a CAA Tournament game. Last season, W&M set the record with 14 in a second round win over Elon. Over the last three games, W&M is averaging 13 3-pointers made per game.

- The Tribe turned the ball over just four time against N.C. A&T on Friday. It marked the second time this season that W&M had only four turnovers in a game. The total ranks as the third fewest in a game in program history and the fewest in a CAA Tournament in program lore.

- W&M pulled down 14 offensive rebounds and turned it into 18 second-chance points in Friday's win over N.C. A&T. Over the last 11 games, the Tribe averaging 12.2 offensive rebounds per contest with an offensive rebounding % of 32.6. The Tribe turned in its top two offensive rebounding totals of the season in February with 19 at Monmouth (Feb. 8) and 17 against Towson (Feb. 15). The 19 offensive rebounds at Monmouth are the most in a CAA game this season and the most for the Tribe against a DI opponent since the 2010 regular-season finale when it had 21 vs. Towson.

- Junior Gabe Dorsey continued to knock down 3-pointers at a high rate with five in the CAA First Round win over N.C. A&T. He led the Tribe with 18 points. It marked the third-straight game in which he hit five or more 3-pointers. Over the last three games, Dorsey, who holds the W&M single-season record with 3-pointers made with 109, is averaging 19 points per contest. He ranks second in the country in 3-pointers made and fifth in 3-pointers made per game (3.4).

- Sophomore Trey Moss has been an impact scorer, leading W&M in scoring in seven of the last nine games. He scored 18 points on 3-of-6 from 3-point range and 5-of-5 at the free throw line against N.C. A&T. Moss has scored in double figures in 25 of the Tribe's 32 games this season and is averaging 15.6 points per game over the last nine contest.

- On the season, the Tribe has made 286 3-pointers as a team. The total ranks fourth in program history and is the most since 2018. The Green and Gold is seven triples shy of third place and nine away from second. W&M's 8.94 3-pointers per game also ranks fourth in program history and its 886 3-pointers attempted are a school record.

- Seven of the Tribe's 12 scholarship players have missed at least five games this season due to injury. In total, those seven players have combined to miss 115 games in 2023-24. Five of the seven have started this season. Since Dec. 1, the Tribe has played eight games with just seven available scholarship players.
