Seguin Earns Back-to-Back CAA Rookie of the Week Honors

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Freshman shortstop Josiah Seguin repeats as the CAA Rookie of the Week following William & Mary baseball's three-win week and conference-opening CAA series victory, the league announced Monday.

Seguin earned his second-consecutive weekly award and the team's third of the season.

After knocking down his first career hit eight games ago, Seguin has posted a team-leading .429 average at the plate. In eight games, Seguin has paced the Tribe with 12 hits, five extra-base hits, three home runs, 23 total bases and three HBP.

In W&M's 3-1 week, the Richmond, Va., native made a massive impact, slashing .500/.625/.833 and leading the team with six hits, six runs and five RBI. His home run, two HBP and 10 total bases tied for the most on the Tribe during the week. He also added his second double of the year.

On Tuesday, in the Tribe's lopsided 17-6 victory at Norfolk State, Seguin belted his first career grand slam.

In his first glimpse of CAA action, the freshman hit .500 (4-8) with a walk and a pair of HBPs to find his way on base 63.6% of the time, a team-high mark. He struck out only once in 11 plate appearances on the weekend.

One of four players with an active on-base streak of eight or more games, Seguin looks to carry his dominance into a road week as the Tribe travels to VCU on Tuesday, March 26 for a midweek matchup before heading to Newark, Del., for the first away weekend of the year at Delaware.
