TRIBE NOTES

• The Matchup
William & Mary looks to complete a perfect weekend at home, taking on Hampton in a 757 battle. Tip is set for 1 p.m. on FloHoops and is the Tribe's Play4Kay game.

• The Opponent
Hampton has not won since the Tribe and Pirates last played on Super Bowl Sunday, entering this Sunday's matchup at 2-21, 2-11 CAA. Hampton fought hard at home on Friday against Towson, but eventually dropped a 78-65 decision to the Tigers. Hampton's wins are over Hofstra and UNCW.

• Last Time Out
Nylah Young reached double figures for the sixth straight game, scoring 18, while Anahi Cauley matched her 18 points in the Tribe's 73-61 win over Elon on Friday night. Bella Nascimento was right behind them with 15 points. The Tribe was down by as much as 13 in the second quarter, but used great ball movement to get themselves back in the game.  Rebekah Frisby-Smith posted a 'triple-nickel' with six points, six rebounds and five assists.

• Last Time We Met
The Tribe had encountered a back and forth battle with their 757 foe on Super Bowl Sunday in Hampton, eventually resulting in a 65-55 win for W&M. Hampton led for the middle part of the ball game, before Cassidy Geddes and Nylah Young brough the Tribe back in the second half. Geddes scored 17 of her 19 points in the last 20 minutes, while Young added eight points in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

• Running it Back
The three players with 15+ points on Friday night was the second time all year the Tribe have had three scorers break the 15 point mark in the same game. The first instance came in the conference opener against Monmouth, with the same three players leading the way in the scoring column. In that Jan. 5 matchup in New Jersey, Anahi Cauley had 22, Bella Nascimento 20 and Nylah Young 17. On Friday against Elon, Young and Cauley had 18 and Nascimento 15.

• Pretty in Pink
Sunday is the Tribe's Play4Kay game benefiting breast cancer awareness. The Tribe will be wearing special edition pink uniforms. W&M has split their last two "pink" games, losing last year to Towson 66-59 last year and beating UNCW by 10 the year prior. This is the first time Hampton will be the opponent in the Play4Kay game.

• Nylon Nylah
After a dry spell scoring the ball, Nylah Young has returned to her early-season form for the Tribe, having scored in double figures in six consecutive games. Young's 20 at Campbell was her seventh 20+ game this season, tied for second most in the CAA. She currently ranks tops in the conference, and sixth nationally, in FT% (91.3), fifth in scoring (14.8), second in FG% (43.2) and third in FTM (94).

• 6+ 3's = Success...Simple As That
The Tribe's success from behind the arc can be directly correlated to the win column. W&M has made six or more 3-pointers 10 different times this season, going 8-2 in those games. The Tribe hit six-plus against both of this weekend's opponents, making six and eight in the two meetings with Elon and eight at Hampton.

• Get the Brooms Out
The Tribe is looking to pick up their another regular-season sweep against Hampton after earning the sweep against Elon on Friday. A win over the Pirates would be the W&M's fourth sweep this season, already beating Hofstra, Delaware and Elon twice. That would match the number of sweeps last year's team had, that squad also beat Elon and Hampton twice.

•Analytically Speaking
William & Mary currently sits third in the CAA in assists per game but are second in the league and 43rd in the nation in assist percentage according to the Warren Nolan analytics site. 62.2% of the Tribe's baskets have been assisted this year. W&M is also one of five teams in the CAA in the top-60 in the country in defensive rating, clocking in at 54th.

• Taking on the Nation's Best Defenses
The Tribe's tough non-conference schedule has been talked about, but as a whole the Tribe have faced off, or will face off, with some of the nation's top defenses all year long. According to Warren Nolan's defensive rating, measuring how many points a team gives up per 100 possessions, the Tribe has nine top-50 defenses on their schedule. Four of those opponents are in the top-16, led by Stony Brook who is second and Norfolk State ranked sixth.

• Competing on the Glass
Although the Tribe are not a statistically dominate team on the glass, there is no doubt they have improved their efforts on the boards from a year ago. W&M has already outrebounded their opponent 12 times this year compared to just four times all of last year. They have a 10-2 record when doing so this season.

• Protecting the Rock
W&M has won the turnover battle in 12 of the last 16 games and have a 9-6 record when doing so this season.

• 60 is the Magic Number
The Tribe has held their opponents under 60 points in nine of their 12 wins this season, while opponents have scored over 60 in eight of the nine W&M losses. The Tribe is 16-4 under Erin Dickerson Davis when holding teams below 60. While team's have had a mixed bag of success scoring in the 60s vs. W&M, opponents are 25-4 against them when scoring 70+ since 2020-21.
