W&M News and Notes

- Richmond is the Tribe's most played rivalry at 203 games with the Spiders holding a slim 104-99 advantage. The teams meet for the third-straight year after the longest gap in a series that dates back to 1912. W&M holds a 60-32 lead in games played in Williamsburg, including a narrow 58-57 win in 2022.

- The Tribe faces its first of two-straight games against the Atlantic 10 Conference. It marks the 16th-straight season and 27th year in the last 29 campaigns that W&M has played an A-10 foe. The Tribe will play multiple A-10 teams in the same season for just the sixth time. Head coach Brian Earl is 2-1 in his career against the A-10, but all three games have been on the road. He led Cornell to a 1-1 mark last season with a win at Fordham.

- Senior forward Noah Collier has been on a tear of late, averaging 19.8 points and  5.8 rebounds over the last five games against D1 competition. He has led the Tribe in scoring four times in the last five games, including a career-high 25 points at NC State. Collier leads the Tribe and ranks 17th in the CAA in scoring (13.8), while also coming in 15th in the league in rebounding (5.6). His 65.4 FG% ranks second in the CAA and ranks 13th in the country.

- Earl's teams are known among the fastest paced and highest scoring in the country. According to KenPom.com, W&M ranks 29th nationally in adjusted tempo (71.9) and ninth as well in shortest average possession length (15.1) this season. The Tribe also leads the CAA in fastbreak points at 15.1 per game, which also ranks 31st nationally. Over his last three years at Cornell, Earl's teams ranked among the top 25 nationally in adjusted tempo each of the last three years.

- W&M eclipsed the century mark for the second game this season in its 109-55 win over Virginia University Lynchburg. The 109 points are the 10th most in a game in school history. The Tribe recorded its first 100-point game against a DI opponent since 2018 in its 102-87 victory over Georgia Southern. On the year, W&M leads the CAA and 39th nationally at 83.7 points per game. The Tribe has averaged 80 or more points on three occasions in school history and the record is 85.0 in 2018.

- Three-point shooting has been a key piece of head coach Brian Earl's offenses, and W&M is one of the top 3-point shooting teams in the country this season. W&M ranks second nationally in % of field goal attempts coming from 3 (53.7%), third in 3-pointers attempted per game (33.0), eighth in 3-pointers made per game (11.3), and 40th in % of scoring from 3-pointers (38.7%). Earl's teams ranked among the top 10 nationally in 3-pointers made and attempted each of the last two years at Cornell.

- Twice this season, W&M has attempted 40 or more 3-pointers in a game. The Tribe's 46 attempted 3-pointers in a win over Norfolk State tied the school record which was previously set in a double OT game at Liberty in 2008. W&M attempted 44 3-pointers, including 27 in the first half, in its win over Georgia Southern. That total ranks third in program history.

- W&M has used a deep rotation this season with nine players seeing action in every game. According to KenPom.com, W&M ranks 15th nationally in % of minutes played off the bench (41.7%). In total, 11 players are averaging nearly double-digit minutes, eight are averaging at least six points per game and six with at least three rebounds per game.

- The Tribe hit a season-high 18 3-pointers vs. VUL, the third time this season W&M connected 16 or more 3-pointers in a game. It marked just the third time in school history with multiple games of 16 or more 3-pointers in a season. W&M's 18 triples vs. the Dragons rank third in school history, while the Tribe posted the seventh-most 3-pointers in school history (16) against Dickinson and vs. Norfolk State.

- Nearly half of W&M's points this season have come off the bench. The Tribe has scored 47.2% (395-of-837) of its points off the bench and is averaging 39.5 points per game from its reserves, which ranks seventh nationally. Last season, Brian Earl's Cornell team led the nation at 36 points per game from reserves.

- In his three seasons at W&M, Gabe Dorsey has established himself as one of the top 3-point shooters in the country. Over the last two contests, he has hit eight of nine from 3-point range at ODU and against VUL. He has scored in double figures in four of the last five games, averaging 13.4 points per game and shooting 46.2% (18-of-39) from 3 during that stretch. Dorsey, who is W&M's career leader in 3's per game (3.21), moved up into fourth place on the Tribe's career 3-pointers list with 218 and is 23 shy of third.

- A trio of former W&M players are currently on coaching staffs in the NBA. Jim Moran '01 is in his ninth season as an NBA assistant coach and first with the Sacramento Kings. Sean Sheldon '16 is in his third season as an assistant coach with the Utah Jazz, while Daniel Dixon '17 is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
