TRIBE NOTES

Last Time Out
The Tribe honored their senior class of nine on Sunday at Martin Family Stadium, but had the festivities spoiled by Charleston, falling 3-2. Charleston opened up the scoring in the 11th minute, but the Tribe quickly answered in the 13th minute when Gabriella Kurtas played a cross into the box that deflected off of the keeper and into the net to equalize the match. The Cougars scored the next two goals of the match in the 42nd and 47th minute before Ivey Crain brought the Tribe within one via her fifth goal of the season in the 53rd minute. W&M's comeback effort would ultimately fall short, however.

Top of the Class
Since her arrival at W&M, Ivey Crain has been one of the best forwards in the CAA. Her junior season has yielded similar results as she currently leads the conference in shots per game (4.31) and shots on goal per game (2.08). Her three game-winning goals also rank second in the CAA. Crain currently leads the Tribe in goals (5) and points (11).

Shooting Often and Accurate
Heading into this week's action, W&M currently sits third in the CAA in shot accuracy, placing just less than 50% of their shot attempts on goal. The Tribe has not only been shooting accurate, but also often this season. W&M has outshot its opponents 181-118 this season, while also holding a whopping 90-44 advantage in shots on goal.

Standings Update
Heading into this week's action the Tribe sits in a tie for eighth with Campbell in the CAA standings with six points and records of 2-3-0. Currently, teams with eight points or more occupy the six spots to qualify if the CAA postseason if the season ended today. Elon currently sits tied for first with Delaware at 12 points.

Scouting the Phoenix and the Camels
The Phoenix have cruised throughout the 2024 season, with an overall record of 9-1-1. Their first loss of the season came last week over defending CAA champions Towson after starting the year 8-0-1. Elon recovered from their lone set back with a 1-0 win at Drexel on Sunday.

Campbell will look to snap a three-game skid on Thursday when they host Monmouth before welcoming in W&M. The Camels hold an overall record of 4-6-3 but have been very strong at home so far with a 3-2-1 record in Buies Creek. Just like W&M, they too beat NC State in the non-conference.

History with the Phoenix and the Camels
Elon and W&M have had an extremely even series over the years, currently deadlocked 4-4-2 in 10 meetings. Last season the Tribe used a 2-0 win at home to snap a 0-3-1 stretch against the Phoenix. Elon holds a 2-1-1 advantage at home over the Tribe.

As newer members of the CAA, this will only be the second meeting since 1998 and fifth all-time between the Tribe and the Camels. Last year the two sides battled to a 2-2 draw in Williamsburg in their first ever meeting as conference foes. The Tribe won all three meetings before that in the 1990s. Sunday will be the Tribe's first ever trip to Buies Creek.
