RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary men's tennis picked up a trio of singles wins and a doubles victory at the River City Open over the weekend.
 
Senior Alexander Karman, sophomore Nikita Bortnichek, and freshman Theo Nilsson each notched singles victories, while Karman and Bortnichek combined to record a doubles victory.
 
On Friday, the Tribe won a pair of singles matches. Nilsson tallied his first collegiate victory, downing Longwood's Vselovod Rusin, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
 
Bortnichek picked up his second win of the fall on Friday, downing Richmond's Grant Cohen in three sets. He won the opening set, 6-1, before the Spider player rallied to force a third set, 7-5. Bortnichek rolled in the third-set super tiebreaker, 10-1.
 
On Saturday, Bortnichek and Karman recorded their second doubles win of the fall. They downed Bucknell's William Robinson and Nelson Alapi, 6-4.
 
Karman wrapped up the Tribe's weekend with a come-from-behind three-set win on Sunday. After dropping the opening set to Cole Brashear, 6-2, the Tribe senior rallied to win the second, 7-5, and then outlasted his UR foe, 10-8, in the third-set super tiebreaker. It was his team-leading third singles win of the fall.
